🌾 Today’s Poem ~ If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking

If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking

Emily Dickinson

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ A Lesson from a Live Oak

The large live oak in my yard is over 100 years old. It survived droughts, hail, tropical storms, torrential rains and everything else nature can toss at it. I love this tree, it teaches me new lessons every day.

Covid – 19 Life Hack ~ Adding Layers of Protection to Your Cloth Face Mask

Do You Wear a Cloth Face Mask?

I wear a cloth face mask when I am not able to social distance or going to a public place like a supermarket, gym, etc. I was thinking, what if I add an additional layer of protection to my face mask? Check out the Covid – 19 Life Hack below.

Here’s A Covid – 19 life hack:

I take a paper towel (I use select a size). I fold the paper towel until it fits inside my cloth face mask. I now have (counting paper towel folds) three layers of cloth and four layers of paper towel.  Boom, added protection when I can’t social distance.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ As You Go Through Life

As You Go Through Life

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Don’t look for the flaws as you go through life;
   And even when you find them,
It is wise and kind to be somewhat blind
   And look for the virtue behind them.
For the cloudiest night has a hint of light
   Somewhere in its shadows hiding;
It is better by far to hunt for a star,
   Than the spots on the sun abiding.

The current of life runs ever away
   To the bosom of God’s great ocean.
Don’t set your force ‘gainst the river’s course
   And think to alter its motion.
Don’t waste a curse on the universe–
   Remember it lived before you.
Don’t butt at the storm with your puny form,
   But bend and let it go o’er you.

The world will never adjust itself
   To suit your whims to the letter.
Some things must go wrong your whole life long,
   And the sooner you know it the better.
It is folly to fight with the Infinite,
   And go under at last in the wrestle;
The wiser man shapes into God’s plan
   As water shapes into a vessel.

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “Whenever it rains, my wife just stands at the window looking kind of sad.”

Pete: “Is something bothering her?”

Joe: “Do you think I should let her in?”

🤗 A Better Life ~ Do Your Best, Don’t Worry About Tomorrow

Let Tomorrow Go, Take Care of Today

We worry about tomorrow, fearing something bad might happen. We try to predict it, we prepare for everything, and we try to plan our days. However, most things in life just happen, and the only thing we can do is enjoy it to the fullest and make the best of it.

Life is full of surprises, and that’s a good thing. By expecting the worst to happen, you complicate life and make it hard. So let go of all those worries and the need to control and predict everything.

🍎 Today’s Health Question ~

True or False: Your Skin Plays an Important Role In Fighting off Bacteria and Germs.

Answer:

True: You may not think of skin as part of your immune system. But this crucial organ, covering an impressive 16 square feet, serves as a first-line fortress against bacteria, viruses, and other undesirables. To stay strong and healthy, your skin needs vitamin A. “Vitamin A plays a major role in the production of connective tissue, a key component of skin,” explains David Katz, MD, director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center in Derby, CT. One of the best ways to get vitamin A into your diet is from foods containing beta-carotene (which gives them a vibrant orange pigment), like sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, canned pumpkin, and cantaloupe.
