Something to Think About

It’s impossible for us to change the world. It is possible for us to change our personal world. We begin by asking what kind of world do we want? The world we want includes our home, family, neighbors, and folks with whom we work. Having a big house filled with lots of things doesn’t make a house a home. What will make your house/apartment a home? What kind of relationships do you want? Do you want relationships filled with understanding, generosity, forgiveness, and love?  Creating the kind of world you want takes hard work.

Today’s Poem ~ Gold Leaves

Gold Leaves
G. K. Chesterton
Lo! I am come to autumn,
When all the leaves are gold;
Grey hairs and golden leaves cry out
The year and I are old.

In youth I sought the prince of men,
Captain in cosmic wars,
Our Titan, even the weeds would show
Defiant, to the stars.

But now a great thing in the street
Seems any human nod,
Where shift in strange democracy
The million masks of God.

In youth I sought the golden flower
Hidden in wood or wold,
But I am come to autumn,
When all the leaves are gold.

Today’s Inspiration ~ The Present is a Present

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
~ Bill Keane

A Better Life ~ We All Have Problems

Problems are the single resource that keeps on giving. We all have them. As soon as we clear the table, another shows up. We can let problems become a burden to us and defeat us. Or, we can accept the challenge they toss at us. We can use them to toughen us up, gain experience, and prove our skill in handling them. We all have problems. The key is not to let problems have us.

Today’s Smile

Joe “I went to my psychiatrist because I was addicted to the hokey – pokey.”

Pete “What did your psychiatrist say?”

Joe “My psychiatrist said, to “Put my head in, put my head out, put head in and shake it all about.” She added, “Do the hokey pokey and turn yourself all around. That’s what it’s all about.”

A Better Life ~ We Are Our Actions

Our actions tell others who we are. If our words match our actions we have integrity.. Our actions, one at a time, over time, construct the fabric our character. If we’re not happy with who are or who we are becoming, we can change our actions and our changed actions will change the direction of our lives.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “I started out with nothing.”

Pete: “Look where you are now, Joe.”

Joe; “Yah, I still have most of it.”

Today’s Good Word ~ Little Things

I like the little things. Little things like a baby squeezing my finger. Little things like a rainy Sunday morning. Little things like a phone call from a loved one. Little things like my favorite song playing when unexpected. Little things like a text from a friend wishing me well. Little things like hearing my three favorite words, “I love you.” The little things are really the big things, don’t lose one of them.

Today’s Power Thought ~ Dare to Fail

If you’re not failing every once in a while, you’re not risking. If you’re not risking, the dream remains elusive. Today, dare to fail, dare to try, dare to tray again and again. You’ll discover your dream is within your grasp.
