A late night talk show host sent a crew to the street to interview people. The crew asked people how they felt about certain politically charged terms. The people they interviewed strongly voiced their opposition to each term. When asked to define the term to which they disagreed, they admitted they didn’t know what it meant. The sketch was meant to be funny but it also raised an important point: How much effort to do we put in to understand people and issues we claim not to like? How much do we rely on someone else to tell us their truth instead of discovering it for ourselves? Be informed. Be wise. Don’t be led by a charlatan.
