You’re Special

Declare today a “take care of myself day.” You deserve it. Putting yourself first may sound selfish. It is, however, the most important thing you do this week. Taking care of one’s self begins with creating space so you can find time to step aside, even for a few moments, from life’s demands. How you take care of yourself is up to you. Be creative. If you feel guilty, enjoy the guilt feelings. Seriously. The guilt feelings were passed on to by other people. Don’t let them stop you from taking time for yourself. Here’s some starting tips: Avoid drama. Have the courage to say, “NO!” Someone interrupts and wants a decision, say, “I’ll think about it.” C’mon, you’re special. Treat yourself as such.

Thinking Out Loud: You are Strong

Are you going to let the obstacles in your life be stumbling blocks or stepping stones? Choose the positive. You are the master of your attitude. ~ Bruce Lee

NOTE: I’ve witnessed it hundreds of times where someone encounters a setback and stops. The person makes a decision to quit his/her pursuit and changes his/her direction. When they make the decision to quit, they are often close to the finish line. In higher education, students who quit when pursuing a doctorate often get through all the course work. They find the dissertation too difficult. They become known as ABD’s (all but the dissertation). Stumbling blocks become stepping stones when we refuse to quit, desire to learn from our missteps, and develop the patience to endure whatever is tossed at us. Each obstacle we overcome adds to a cumulative effect that prepares us for the future obstacles we’ll face. You are strong. You’re getting stronger. Never quit.

Thinking Out Loud: Choose to ACT

“Making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.” ~  Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

NOTE: The scariest part about making a decision is the fear of making a decision. Will it be a good decision? Will it be a decision I regret? When we think of things in that way we become paralyzed, unable to act. We will never have enough data to make the decision with certitude. Thinking about making a major decision? Choose to face fear head on. After you’ve collected the data, ACT. Choose to decide. Toss all the life boats over the side so there is no turning back. When the last life boat is tossed over the side something amazing will happen. You’ll have a deep sense of peace. You’ll focus on moving forward. You’ll make the decision you chose turn out to be the right decision.

Daily Quotes – Two Best Things to do in Making a Decision

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing,

the next best thing is the wrong thing,

and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

Theodore Roosevelt

Feeling Good Tip of the Day ~ The Most Important Decision of the Day

“Start each day by affirming peaceful, contented and happy attitudes and your days will tend to be pleasant and successful.”

~ Norman Vincent Peale

NOTE: Each of our days begins with an important decision. We decide when we awake the kind of day we’re going to heave. We are making a fateful decision. In that moment we can dare to affirm that we will have a great day seeking the best in ourselves and in those we meet. We affirm that we have the strength and resources to meet whatever challenges come our way.

Today’s Inspiration ~ It’s Time to Decide

“Not to decide is to decide. Letting something go until it ‘decides itself’ is Life by Default. You don’t want to live that way. So choose. Choose right now. Stop worrying about what you can ‘lose’ or how you can ‘win’ and just follow your joy. Where does your joy say you should go?”

~ Neale Donald Walsch

A Better Life ~ Decisions

Life often confronts us with deep, conflicting choices. We often have two choice, both of which are desired by us. Yet, choosing one, means we forego the other. It is during these times of forced choices, if we have the courage to look, we discover our true values. Be careful choosing an apparent good, that my require you to give up something you deeply treasured. In these times it’s best to ask oneself, what the decision would look like  five years from now,.
