Our most challenging journey isn’t to the far reaches of the cosmos; it is the journey into the depths of our being to discover our innate goodness.

Work hard today, plant the seeds for tomorrow. Don’t let the naysayers get you down, push on, push on.

A good lesson from my mom. We were poor by any standard. Yet, my mom made do with what she had to work with. My school lunches were frequently eggs and onion, eggs and potatoes, or eggs and pepper sandwiches. Friday night’s dinner was always pasta fagioli (bean soup with small pasta shells). She made the cheapest foods seem fit for the wealthy. The lesson? I may not have all I want today, but I can make do with what I have. Thanks, Mom.

Why rush? Whatever it is, it will wait for you. Dance with the day. Feel it’s beat and move to it. If you can’t dance, give it a try, no one is watching.

Years ago, Marshall McCulhan wrote, “All media exist to invest our lives with artificial perceptions and arbitrary values.” To what degree does the media (social and otherwise) shape how you think or act?Â

A strong cold front came through south Texas last night. The weather changed. Instead of the air conditioner, it’s the heater that’s working this morning. That’s life. Changes happen. I prefer warmer temps. There’s not anything I can do this morning but to slip on my hoodie and head to the gym. Adapt to change. Roll with it. Don’t fight it. Life will be better.

What toppings make the best pizza? Ask ten people, we’re likely to get ten different perspectives. When you share a pizza with someone, how do you choose the toppings? Most likely, you find common ground and choose toppings you both enjoy. All we have to do is apply choosing pizza topping to life. Imagine the possibilities.

A red-tailed hawk swooped into the yard this morning looking for a breakfast treat of smaller birds that visit the feeder. The smaller birds were wise to the scheming designs of the hawk and avoided the feeder. The hawk left hungry after a while deciding to search elsewhere for breakfast. Learning to listen to one’s inner voice is a good way to make good decisions. Â Don’t let the red-tailed hawk swoop down on you.
