You Know What You Want to Do – Do It

“Let yourself be drawn by the stronger pull of that which you truly love.” ~ Rumi

Dreams ~ A Poem by Langston Hughes

Dreams

Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Song ~ A Poem by Allen Ginsberg

Song

Allen Ginsberg

The weight of the world
is love.
Under the burden
of solitude,
under the burden
of dissatisfaction

the weight,
the weight we carry
is love.

Who can deny?
In dreams
it touches
the body,
in thought
constructs
a miracle,
in imagination
anguishes
till born
in human—
looks out of the heart
burning with purity—
for the burden of life
is love,

but we carry the weight
wearily,
and so must rest
in the arms of love
at last,
must rest in the arms
of love.

No rest
without love,
no sleep
without dreams
of love—
be mad or chill
obsessed with angels
or machines,
the final wish
is love
—cannot be bitter,
cannot deny,
cannot withhold
if denied:

the weight is too heavy

—must give
for no return
as thought
is given
in solitude
in all the excellence
of its excess.

The warm bodies
shine together
in the darkness,
the hand moves
to the center
of the flesh,
the skin trembles
in happiness
and the soul comes
joyful to the eye—

yes, yes,
that’s what
I wanted,
I always wanted,
I always wanted,
to return
to the body
where I was born.

Are You Ready to Fly?

Today’s Poem: A World Worth Living In by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

A World Worth Living In

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

One who claims that he knows about it
Tells me the earth is a vale of sin;
But I and the bees, and the birds we doubt it,
And think it a world worth living in.
——
Whatever you want, if you wish for it long,
With constant yearning and ceaseless desire,
If your wish soars upward on wings so strong
That they never grow languid, never tire,
Why, over the storm cloud and out of the dark
It will come flying some day to you,
As the dove with the olive branch flew to the ark,
And the wish you’ve been dreaming,
it will come true.

Today’s Thought: Don’t Quit, Press On!

We all need dreams. Dreams come true on TV, in the movies, and in books. In real life we have to prove we’re worthy of achieving the dream. We have to endure the struggles, setbacks, and periods of time when it seems we’re not making progress and we’re never going to catch a break. Lots of folks walk away from their dreams. They find the struggle to hard. They can’t handle the disappointments. For those who continue to work hard, endure the struggles, and patiently press on, unexpectedly it happens. They cross over to a place they thought of but never knew they could get there. I know this to be true. I’ve witnessed it my life and in the lives of friends. Stay true to your dream. Hang tough. When in doubt, don’t quit, press on.

Today’s Quote: Dream On!

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. ~Harriet Tubman

Today’s Quote: Yes You Can!

A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. ~ Walter Bagehot
