Today’s Power Thought ~ Changing Directions

Where our attention goes, our energy flows. One way to get unstuck is to change the direction of our attention. When we turn our attention to positive, uplifting dreams our energy flows in that direction. To do so, we have to turn our attention away from that which is distracting us from the  pursuit of our dreams.

A Better Life ~ How Are You Spending Your Energy?

Each morning we have restored supplies of energy to accomplish the work we have to do during the day. Our energy depletes itself as the day wears on. Don’t waste a single minute of energy on things that don’t elevate, inspire, and guide us to worthwhile goals. Is it time to reassess how you are spending your energy?

What If . . .

What if I analyzed how I use my time? Would I discover that I’m spending more time on things that are unimportant than are important? As I was leaving the gym yesterday a couple was walking toward me. I held the door for them. The woman was struggling with the gear she was carrying into the gym. The man was too busy to help his partner, he was reading his Facebook messages on his smartphone. When we decide what’s important in our lives and focus our energy on it. Our lives change for the better.

Today’s Health Tip ~ Keeping Your Energy Up

Being mindful of what’s on your plate can be a healthy and effective way to keep your energy up.

With regular exercise and good nutrition, you can maintain healthy levels of energy during depressive episodes. Your body runs off what you feed it. The best way to get the most energy from your food is to make sure you’re giving yourself the best food possible. Besides what you eat, when you eat can also impact your energy. Did you ever notice how you feel sluggish after a big lunch or dinner? That’s because your body is using its energy to digest that big meal instead of powering the rest of your body. The easiest way to avoid the post-meal coma is to eat several smaller-portioned meals throughout the day. This will keep your body fueled regularly and may even help you lose weight.

Today’s Good Word ~ Rest

Take time to rest, relax, and renew. When we rest, we give our minds and bodies a chance to reset. Resting may mean taking a nap, getting away from the desk and going for a short walk, or grabbing a glass of iced tea and sitting on the patio for a few minutes. Try grabbing periods of  brief rest during the day and notice the difference in how you feel.
