I go for a walk after dinner. With the time change in the U.S. the sun sets early. I finished my walk at dusk, walked into my backyard and saw the moon shining above the trees. It made me happy. I share my photo and happiness with you.

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. ~ James M. Barrie
It’s easy to miss all the good things near us. They become familiar to us. We take them for granted until we don’t have them. Something like feeling great and suddenly we get a lower back spasm. When our back heals we know it feels so good to feel so good again. We are surrounded with wonderful things and people. If we open ourselves to them we’ll discover that happiness was all around us all the time. It’s not somewhere else. It’s not off in some exotic place. It’s here, around us, waiting for us to invite it into our lives.
e. e. cummings
here’s to opening and upward, to leaf and to sap
and to your(in my arms flowering so new)
self whose eyes smell of the sound of rain
and here’s to silent certainly mountains;and to
a disappearing poet of always,snow
and to morning;and to morning’s beautiful friend
twilight(and a first dream called ocean)and
let must or if be damned with whomever’s afraid
down with ought with because with every brain
which thinks it thinks,nor dares to feel(but up
with joy;and up with laughing and drunkenness)
here’s to one undiscoverable guess
of whose mad skill each world of blood is made
(whose fatal songs are moving in the moon
“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” ~ Omar Khayyam
The best things in life can never be kept;
They must be given away.
A Smile, a Kiss, and Love ~ Robert Browning
I don’t get it. Why don’t more folks choose to be happy? There are so many things around us that make me smile. I saw men and women dancing in a zumba class this morning. There were having a great time moving to the music. They made me smile. A daughter called while I was eating lunch. Not a problem, lunch can always wait. We had a great conversation. I saw two squirrels chasing each other in circles in my yard – that’s got to make you smile. It feels good to be happy, to look on the bright side. I’m not traveling down the tunnel of doom.
John Kenyon
A face I saw, whose outward calm
All inward peace might well express;
And whose, I asked, that brow of balm?
Her name, they said, was Happiness.
And what those fillet-bands, I cried,
The which in either hand she bears?
Just such round Cupid’s eyes are tied,
And such eternal Justice wears.
“Wouldst Thou be happy,” ’twas replied,
“O’er coming hours must one be cast;
And one (I knew the truth, and sighed)
Must shroud the memory of the past.”
The temperature will hit 103 F (39.44 C) today in south Texas. Bring it on. I love the heat. I’ve got iced team in the fridge. The air conditioner is working fine. I’ll lather on some sunscreen and go for walk (while it’s still cool (in the nineties – lol). We can’t change our weather. We can change our attitude toward it. That’s how it is with a lot of the circumstances we find ourselves in. We can always find a way to make it a great day. Hope you’re having one.
Maya Angelou
We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.
We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
