Look at me

Theodor Seuss Giesel

Look at me!
Look at me!
Look at me NOW!
It is fun to have fun
But you have
to know how.

Today’s Inspiring Quote: Be a Joy Spreader

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. ~ James M. Barrie

Today’s Thought: Your Smile Carries a Beautiful Message

“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald

I’m not sure if we’re losing the ability to smile. Maybe we’re so fearful and distrustful of each other that we think smiling is a sign of weakness. Most people I see are in a rush to get to somewhere, talking on their smart phones and gesturing with their free hand. They walk purposefully with a game face on that says “don’t mess with me.” Smiling is a simple gesture that sends a text message from the heart to a momentary encounter with another person. A warm smile lets someone know the world is a friendly place. It lets the other person know that someone (the person offering the smile) recognizes they (the person receiving the smile) exists. The person offering the smile receives as much benefit as the person receiving the smile.

Today’s Inspiring Quote: Don’t Lose a Single One

Seize the moments of happiness, love and be loved! That is the only reality in the world, all else is folly.

Leo Tolstoy

Today’s Inspiring Quote: A Path to Happiness

Happy is the man who has broken the chains which hurt the mind, and has given up worrying once and for all.

Ovid

Thinking Out Loud: Learning Through Experiences

“There is only one way to learn. It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey.” ~  Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

NOTE: I spent many years in formal education. I began in kindergarten and worked my way through high school to college. I eventually went to graduate school and earned my doctoral degree. I learned lots of things. What I learned on my life’s journey is worthy of three or four doctoral degrees. My teachers were experiences, friends, enemies, strangers, and loved ones. Pain, suffering, joy, and happiness were also my teachers. If we’re awake on our journey there are precious nuggets of knowledge to learn. Some of the wisest people I’ve met did not have the formal education I had, but they accumulated wisdom that formal education could never teach.
