If you want to speak out, speak out for honesty, truth, and compassion. You’ll never have to apologize. You’ll never have to say you misspoke. You may not be popular; you’ll sleep well at night, knowing you did the right thing.

What If . . .
What if I did the things I know I should be doing? Wow, that question demands great responsibility from me. If I do the things I’m supposed to do, the people I live with, work with, and know can count on me. When I do what I am supposed to do, no matter how unpleasant or difficult, I make a big difference in my life and in the lives of those who surround me.
What If . . .
What if you stood alone holding on to what you believed to be right and just? It’s hard to stand alone facing the power structure. There are times in our lives when life asks us to take a stand. One guideline to knowing if our stand is the right one is to ask ourselves if it involves our ego. The more our stand is other centered and less about our ego the more we can be sure we’re on the right track. In the end you’ll know your integrity won out.
Today’s Good Word ~ What’s Right?
How often do we ask ourselves ‘what’s right’ in this situation? When we ask ourselves ‘what’s right’ in a situation we ask ourselves to make a judgement based on our value system. If we don’t have a value system, we have no gauge to determine what is right is a situation. We make judgements based on feelings with no substance to support our feelings. Having value-based support for what is right is important in times when our values system does not conform with popular opinion. When we do what is right based on our value system we can live with ourselves. We have integrity. What we decide to do may not be popular but it defines us and our values.
A Better Life ~ We Are Our Actions
Our actions tell others who we are. If our words match our actions we have integrity.. Our actions, one at a time, over time, construct the fabric our character. If we’re not happy with who are or who we are becoming, we can change our actions and our changed actions will change the direction of our lives.
It’s A Matter of Honor
I was watching a BBC show while working out at the gym this morning. One of the characters refuses to give in to pressure and says, “It’s a matter of honor.” His words raised the following questions for me:
- What do I stand for and refuse to take a back step?
- What is the honorable thing to do in any moment?
- How do I live my life to make sure honor and integrity are my legacy?
What is “A Matter of Honor” for you?
Courage ~ Anonymous
Courage is the strength to stand up
When it’s easier to fall down and lose hold.
It is the conviction to explore new horizons
When it’s easier to believe what we’ve been told.
Courage is the desire to maintain our integrity
When it’s easier to look the other way.
It is feeling happy and alive, and moving forward
When it’s easier to feel sorry for ourselves and stay.
Courage is the will to shape our world
When it’s easier to let someone else do it for us.
It is the recognition that none of us are perfect
When it’s easier to criticize others and fuss.
Courage is the power to step forward and lead
When it’s easier to follow the crowd; their pleas resound.
It is the spirit that places you on top of the mountain
When it’s easier to never leave the ground.
The foundation of courage is solid,
The rock that doesn’t roll.
Courage is the freedom
Of our mind, body, and soul!

Today’s Quote by Shakespeare on Integrity
“This above all,—To thine own self be true;
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Then canst not then be false to any man.Shakespeare
