One of my daughters is a clarinet professor and principal chair in her city’s symphony. When I attend a recital I am not being able to tell where the music was coming from. She and her clarinet are one. Tears roll down my cheeks during her performances. Everything she’s achieved, she earned through hard work. It’s the same way with the best relationships between two people. You can’t tell where the music is coming from. It doesn’t come easy, it’s earned through hard work.

It’s been my experience that no matter how well I plan the day, it seldom works the way I want it to work. Unexpected surprises and interruptions mark my path. When I was a kid I’d go fishing with friends. I recall using a small red lure called a “daredevil” to catch pickerel. I’d cast the lure near lily pads and hope I’d get a strike. The lure worked fairly well and soon I’d get a strike and a large pickerel would leap out of the water with the lure stuck in its mouth. If the pickerel let the lure pass, it had another day to enjoy life. How many times do you and I snap at the lure someone tosses by us. If we only let it go, the day would have been a happier one. Today, let the lures pass by and enjoy life.
