Something to Think About

“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” – Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Our personal belief system and the doubters we associate with are often the biggest hurdles we have to clear before we dare to leap into the unknown.

The only way I know of to clear the hurdles is to shake away the doubters, toss aside our fears, and set out.

The only sure outcome if we sit on the sidelines and let life pass us by is a suitcase filled with regrets and bitterness.

Don’t sit on the sidelines. Take the leap into the unknown. You may fool everyone and achieve what others said was impossible. Or, you may fail, look back and laugh at the doubters and tell them, “I didn’t quite make it, but it was one hell of a ride.”

Don’t Quit. Never Give Up!

Something to Think About

Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity. ~ Carl Jung

The psychologist, Carl Jung, points out that we learn about the essential good things of life by their absence. How often have you and I heard, or said, “If I only knew?” Or, “It feels so good, to feel so good again?”

What lessons has life taught you about its essential good things when they were missing from your life?

I’ve learned many lessons. Among them, never lose a moment to share my love is at the top of my list.

Our conduct should show that we are on this earth to play a magnificent part in life’s drama, to make a splendid contribution to humanity.

Orison Swett Marden

You are important! You have a wonderful gift to offer this world. What is it?

Are you still searching for it?

In quiet and stillness you will know and once you know let nothing distract you from cultivating it and sharing it with others.

Don’t allow your wounds to transform you into someone you are not.

Paulo Coelho

Each of us has experienced pain, hurt, betrayal, and moments of intense suffering. It’s part of the price of living.

What we become as the result of those moments changes us. Someone said, “These times can make us bitter or better.”

How have you become stronger, wiser, and more loving as a result of your painful experiences?

The work of becoming better is not easy, it is essential if we are to heal and grow and fulfill our destiny.

Live in the present. The past is gone; the future is unknown – but the present is real, and your opportunities are now.

Maxwell Maltz

Living in the present moment is difficult for me. My mind has a way of grabbing ahold of the past or jumping to the future. Is it that way for you?

A wise friend gave me advice and it helped me to put a saddle on my mind and keep it under control

My wise friend suggested:

1. The past is the reservoir of events where I was loved, strong, and successful against great challenges. Use them as a foundation for today.

2. The future is where I want to go. My friend told me to dare to dream a big dream worthy of me and to use it as my GPS.

3. The present moment is where I am to build on the foundation the past laid for me and activily do the hard work of moving toward my dream.

This advice has been very helpful for me. It’s not always easy to follow, but it serves as an anchor. Let me know if you find it helpful for you.

I learned much more from defeat than I ever learned from winning.

Grantland Rice

It hurts to fail. I’ve failed and I’ve never liked it. A mentor gave me some wonderful advice, which I share with you. He said, “Ray, give yourself 24 hours to be upset. When the 24 hours are over, ask yourself what lessons failure taught you. They are there if you’ll look. Be grateful for them, learn from them. Then, shake it off and move on.

When has failure taught you an important lesson?

What was the lesson you learned?

How did your failure make you a better person?

Today’s Quote by Bono on Resilience

My heroes are the ones who survived doing it wrong, who made mistakes, but recovered from them.

Bono

Something To Think About

To reach a port we must sail, sometimes with the wind, and sometimes against it. But we must not drift or lie at anchor.

Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

What is holding you back? In my experience, fear of the outcome is the stumbling block for vigorously stepping out in a new direction.

What if you you let go of your safety net and stepped out?

What if you took a chance and dared to vigorously go for your dream?

What if you failed? Do you have the courage, to get up, shake it off, and get started again?

Never Quit! Never Give UP!

Today’s Quote by Jon Bon Jovi on Not Quitting

When you’re about to give up and your heart’s about to break, remember that you’re perfect, God makes no mistakes.

“Loss and Gain” Poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

LOSS AND GAIN

     When I compare
What I have lost with what I have gained,
What I have missed with what attained,
Little room do I find for pride.
     I am aware
How many days have been idly spent;
How like an arrow the good intent
Has fallen short or been turned aside.
     But who shall dare
To measure loss and gain in this wise?
Defeat may be victory in disguise;
The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.
