There’s often a great temptation to become one with the crowd. We accept the changes in fashion, thinking, and values. It’s difficult to stand apart from the crowd. When one stands apart from the crowd one is noticed and often ridiculed, shunned, or ignored. Three cheers for the one who dares to stand apart from the crowd. You are your own person and not being pushed, pulled or bullied into a way of living.

Life’s a lot better when I love and forgive myself. If I forgive myself, I won’t project my anger on others. If I love myself, I’ll have more love to share with others. When I see and accept my weaknesses I can cut others a lot more slack for the weaknesses I see in them. When I see and accept my strengths I grow in confidence and can encourage others as well without any sense of envy.Â

It is possible to disagree and be civil and respectful to each other. Because two people see things differently doesn’t mean they can’t get along. When we honor each others’ right to have a different opinion we open our circle wider. Who knows, we may even learn from each other.

 During our day there will be events where we will have an instinctive reaction to resist, argue, and push back. Think about all the energy they suck out of us. No wonder we end the day tired. What if we let the things that bother us pass by without reacting to them? We’d have a lot more energy to enjoy life and the people we love.

We’re experiencing an ice storm today in south Texas. It’s not something most folks want, but it is what it is. I think I’ll roll with it. I’m going to make lentil soup in the slow cooker and enjoy the fragrance it offers through the day. I’ve got a good mystery I’ve been wanting to finish. I think I’ll do that. I’ll take photos of the ice hanging on the tree limbs. I’ll make good memories of this day.

When we make our desired change more attractive than what we are holding on to, change becomes easier. Think about a change you want to make and make it attractive. Think about what you want to let go and make it unattractive. You’ll be on your way to making the change you’ve wanted to make.
