The news media comes rushing at us at blinding speed spinning stories fueling numerous negative emotions. I don’t like the feeling of being wound up. I prefer to be peaceful. Here are a couple of strategies to move away from the emotional chaos spewed by news media, social networks, and friends:
- Go on a diet where you restrict contact with news media, social groups, and friends who enjoy the drama.
- Choose to focus on what you can control. If it’s out of your control, there’s not much you can do. Do what you can and let the rest go.
- I always feel more peaceful when I recall or read favorite scriptural verses. Find something that eases your mind and focus on it.
