Today’s Poem ~ To Be In Love
To Be In Love
Gwendolyn Brooks
To be in love
Is to touch with a lighter hand.
In yourself you stretch, you are well.
You look at things
Through his eyes.
A cardinal is red.
A sky is blue.
Suddenly you know he knows too.
He is not there but
You know you are tasting together
The winter, or a light spring weather.
His hand to take your hand is overmuch.
Too much to bear.
You cannot look in his eyes
Because your pulse must not say
What must not be said.
When he
Shuts a door-
Is not there_
Your arms are water.
And you are free
With a ghastly freedom.
You are the beautiful half
Of a golden hurt.
You remember and covet his mouth
To touch, to whisper on.
Oh when to declare
Is certain Death!
Oh when to apprize
Is to mesmerize,
To see fall down, the Column of Gold,
Into the commonest ash.

Joe: “My chiropractor has a good sense of humor.”
Pete: “How so, Joe?”
Joe: “He always cracks me up.”
Something to Think About
The greatest power each of us is in the choice of the words we use with another. Our words can lift another out of the dumps. Our words can inspire another to stretch and reach for a goal. Our words can tell another we love them. Our words can ask forgiveness and say, “I’m sorry.” Our words can also destroy, discourage, humiliate, and shame. Be a builder of people. Use the power of your words to build a better, more humane and loving world.
Today’s Power Thought ~ Get Ready, Your Chance is Coming
Work hard preparing for the chance you’ve wanted. When it comes, cast fear aside and jump aboard. You’re ready. You prepared. Your success is inevitable.
Today’s Good Word ~ Precious
Precious – Def: of great value because of being rare, expensive, or important.
Sometimes we don’t know what is really precious until we no longer have it. Ask anyone who has lost someone they love and they’ll tell you what was precious. We don’t think about our health until we don’t have it. Suddenly, we realize how precious it is to have good health. We may go to work and complain about our supervisor and co-workers, until we don’t have a job to go to. Going to work and having a paycheck becomes precious. What is precious for you?

Today’s Health Tip ~ What are the Best Superfoods?
There are a few foods that can be singled out for special recognition. These “superfoods” offer important nutrients that can power-pack your meals and snacks.
Berries. High in fiber, berries are naturally sweet, and their rich colors mean they are high in antioxidants and disease-fighting nutrients.
Fish. Fish can be a good source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent heart disease.
Leafy greens. Dark, leafy greens are a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and calcium, as well as several phytochemicals (chemicals made by plants that have a positive effect on your health). They also add fiber into the diet.
Nuts. Hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, pecans — nuts are a good source of plant protein. They also contain monounsaturated fats, which may be a factor in reducing the risk of heart disease.
Olive oil. Olive oil is a good source of vitamin E, polyphenols, and monounsaturated fatty acids, all which help reduce the risk of heart disease.
Whole grains. A good source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, whole grains also contain several B vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients.
Yogurt. A good source of calcium and protein, yogurt also contains live cultures called probiotics. These “good bacteria” can protect the body from other, more harmful bacteria.
Cruciferous vegetables. These include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collard greens, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, radishes, and turnips.
Legumes. This broad category includes kidney, black, red, and garbanzo beans, as well as soybeans and peas. Legumes are an excellent source of fiber, folate, and plant-based protein.
Tomatoes. These are high in vitamin C and lycopene, which has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
Today’s Inspiration ~ A Path to Learning
“You can only learn by opening yourself up to engage with different sources of information. How can you learn something if you never see it, read it, or hear it?” ~ Fran Tarkenton
Today’s Poem ~ Sonnet 105: Let Not My Love be Called Idolatry
Sonnet 105: Let Not My Love be Called Idolatry
William Shakespeare
Let not my love be called idolatry,
Nor my belovèd as an idol show,
Since all alike my songs and praises be
To one, of one, still such, and ever so.
Kind is my love today, tomorrow kind,
Still constant in a wondrous excellence;
Therefore my verse to constancy confined,
One thing expressing, leaves out difference.
“Fair, kind, and true” is all my argument,
“Fair, kind, and true” varying to other words;
And in this change is my invention spent,
Three themes in one, which wondrous scope affords.
Fair, kind, and true, have often lived alone.
Which three till now never kept seat in one.
Today’s Smile
Joe: “I went to a restaurant that I was waiting for my date. The host asked me if I had reservations?”
Pete: “Did you have reservations?”
Joe: “I told the host that I did have reservations, I thought my date was too old for me.”
