Artificial Sweeteners do not Boost Weight Loss

[According to a US News health newsletter] – Don’t use artificial sweeteners or sugar substitutes if you are trying to lose weight, according to new guidance from the World Health Organization. The global health body said a systematic review of the available evidence suggests the use of non-sugar sweeteners “does not confer any long-term benefit in reducing body fat in adults or children.”
 If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, you’re better off using – in moderation – a natural sweetener instead, such as honey or maple syrup. Most dietitians agree that a sweet tooth is meant to be satisfied. Make one of these dietitian-approved desserts next time you’re craving a little sweetness. If you’re following a keto-style diet, these are the sweeteners considered keto friendly. And if you have diabetes, some sugar intake is allowed.
