Now, his life was measured by the slats of a green park bench. To the morning joggers, he was just a weathered fixture, as familiar and overlooked as the oak trees. He looked like he’d wandered out of a hurricane, but his spirit remained stubbornly intact. Every passerby received the same gift: a genuine smile and a bright, “Good morning.” Joel saw everything from his perch.
