I like this quote by Neil Young. It’s easy to get stuck in a complaining, feeling powerless rut. If we change the question we’re asking ourselves from “What’s wrong?” to “What can I do to make things better?” Everthing changes. What can you do today make our world a bit better?
At Great Pond
the sun, rising,
scrapes his orange breast
on the thick pines,
and down tumble
a few orange feathers into
the dark water.
On the far shore
a white bird is standing
like a white candle —
or a man, in the distance,
in the clasp of some meditation —
while all around me the lilies
are breaking open again
from the black cave

Later, I will consider
what I have seen —
what it could signify —
what words of adoration I might

The light of a candle
is transferred to another candle—
spring twilight.
There is a candle in your heart,
ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul,
ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?
You feel the separation
from the Beloved.
Invite Him to fill you up,
embrace the fire.
Remind those who tell you otherwise that
Love
comes to you of its own accord,
and the yearning for it
