Today’s Inspiring Photo: Your Destiny Awaits

Your Destiny is On the Other Side – Start Climbing!

Thinking Out Loud

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

NOTE: Whether things go good or bad for us there’s no way we can hold onto them, we’re obligated to leave the past behind and move on. Our destiny lies ahead of us. If we linger in the past, we may miss the opportunity to become what we are capable of becoming. The world will miss our gift. Let go of the past, let go the things that get you down, think only of moving ahead, reaching the goal for which you are destined to reach.

The Courage That My Mother Had: A Poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay

The Courage That My Mother Had

Edna St. Vincent Millay

The courage that my mother had
Went with her, and is with her still:
Rock from New England quarried;
Now granite in a granite hill.

The golden brooch my mother wore
She left behind for me to wear;
I have no thing I treasure more:
Yet, it is something I could spare.

Oh, if instead she’d left to me

The thing she took into the grave!—
That courage like a rock, which she
Has no more need of, and I have.

Thinking Out Loud: Light Up the Darkness

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ~
 J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

NOTE: Wherever we are, that’s where we are. We may not like our circumstances or the people in our sphere. We have a choice. We can become a bitter, backstabbing person, whose only desire is to contribute to the darkness. Or, we can choose to bring light to the darkness. When we bring a light to the darkness we have the opportunity to become the master of our circumstances. Each moment becomes a defining destiny moment demanding our best. If we continually choose to be a light in the darkness, we’ll have made a great difference with our life.

Thinking Out Loud: What Should You Do?

“Before him he saw two roads, both equally straight; but he did see two; and that terrified him–he who had never in his life known anything but one straight line. And, bitter anguish, these two roads were contradictory.” ~ Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

NOTE: Have you ever been confronted with two opposing, equally good choices? I have and for me when I was in these kinds of situations (usually job related) I went through the drill. List the positives and negatives. Did that. Get advice from trusted friends. Did that. Collect as much information as I can. Did that. A mentor told me to flip a coin. Put one choice on heads, the other on tails. He said when you flip the coin pay attention to your feelings when the coin lands. If you’re happy with the way the coin fell, that’s your choice. If you’re unhappy, choose the other option. Did that, I then asked, “Can I do the best two out of three?” I discovered, as usual through the hard way, the best way is after one does his/her due diligence, i.e., the stuff above, make a decision and don’t look back. Don’t question it. Focus on moving on.

Today’s Inspiring Quote: You Have an Inner Strength, Stay Strong, Never Quit

Be calm and strong and patient. Meet failure and disappointment with courage. Rise superior to the trials of life, and never give in to hopelessness or despair. In danger, in adversity, cling to your principles and ideals.

William Osler
