Today’s Quote: Leave Yesterday Behind, Tomorrow Awaits

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.”
― T.S. Eliot,

Make it a No Worry Day

Worrying about what will happen won’t change what will happen. Concentrating on what is important today and how it affects tomorrow has significantly more influence on will happen than worrying about what will happen ever will. So, let tomorrow take care of tomorrow. Do your best today and tell the worry visiter you have no room in your mind for him/her to hang out.

Today’s Quote: It’s All In Your Hands

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The chances, the changes are all yours to make.
The mold of your life is in your hands to break.

J. R. R. Tolkien

Today’s Poem: Look to This Day by Kalidasa

Look to This Day

Kalidasa

Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement
Are but experiences of time.

For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

Today’s Thought: Tomorrow is Where We’re Going

Imagine you’re walking across a river on a solid plank. The plank is two feet (61cm) wide. The distance across the river is 200 feet (61 m). What will happen if you walk on the plank looking over your left shoulder at the receding shoreline? I hope you can swim. To get safely across the river we focus ahead knowing where we will place each succeeding step. When we constantly look back in life, we can’t get ahead. If we focus on where we want to go, we initiate the parts of our brain that create our desired future, set goals, and problem solve to increase our chances of success. Yesterday is over. Today is what we have. Tomorrow is where we are going.

Inspiring Quote: Hold Tightly to Hope

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree. ~ Martin Luther

Thinking Out Loud

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

NOTE: Whether things go good or bad for us there’s no way we can hold onto them, we’re obligated to leave the past behind and move on. Our destiny lies ahead of us. If we linger in the past, we may miss the opportunity to become what we are capable of becoming. The world will miss our gift. Let go of the past, let go the things that get you down, think only of moving ahead, reaching the goal for which you are destined to reach.

Thinking Out Loud: Good Things Are Coming Your Way

The rain will stop, the night will end, the hurt will fade. Hope is never so lost that it can’t be found.

Ernest Hemingway

NOTE: Hope is the miracle elixir that pulls us up out of a bottomless pit. When darkness and despair close all the doors, hope opens a window and the sunlight shines through and on us. When all is lost and there seems no way out, hope hollers to us, “Tomorrow will be brighter than today.” If we have hope we can conquer any why. If we have hope, we have a chance, we haven’t given into the forces of darkness. Never give up. Never quit. Keep hope alive in your heart and turn it into a roaring fire. Yes, tomorrow will be better than today. Good things are coming your way.

Thinking Out Loud: Today and Tomorrow are Linked Together

If you do not think about the future, you cannot have one. ~ John Galsworthy

NOTE: Tomorrow is where we will end up when today is over. What will your tomorrow look like? Our tomorrow has its genesis in today. Today and tomorrow are intertwined. One cannot live without the other. When we live fully in the present moment we can focus our efforts on making our tomorrow brighter. I am writing this post as south Texas is experiencing an Artic blast. We had freezing rain overnight and the current temperature is a frigid 20 F (-6.7 C). Prior to the Artic blast arriving, I covered my plants to protect them from the freezing temperatures and ice. With a bit of luck when warmer temperatures arrive in a few days my plants will have survived. In a way this illustrates the connection between what I do today and the tomorrow I want to help create. Whatever you do today, make it add to the creation of a brighter tomorrow for you and those you love.

Positive Thought of the Day ~ What Will You Create Today?

Yesterday is gone, it’s history. Tomorrow will come with  the dawn. Today is where we’re at. We have a choice of being the creator of our present moment, or, dallying in the fantasy of yesterday or tomorrow. What we do today shapes what we will find tomorrow. It’s up to us to create the kind of day we desire. C’mon show your creative chops.
