Today’s Poem: An Aspiration by Robert Crawford

An Aspiration

Robert Crawford

Music, with the tears in it,
Through my soul is ringing,
Moods like bodies flame and flit
Through the spirit’s singing;
Dream-birds half-articulate,
Which no charms can capture,
Come by twos and nest and mate
In a moment’s rapture.
Now I seem to be upborne
On a starry pinion
Where the poet’s hope forlorn
Has divine dominion —
Where he sees the clouds of earth
Gather light and cluster,
As babes on the dawn of Birth
Watch the visions muster!
All that thought and feeling share
In a soul’s possession
To my singing seems to bear
A divine confession;
As within my dreaming brain
Lips of inspiration
Breathe the beauty gone again
On a new creation.

Today’s Poem: Dreams by D. H. Lawrence

Deams

D. H. Lawrence

All people dream, but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind,
Wake in the morning to find that it was vanity.

But the dreamers of the day are dangerous people,
For they dream their dreams with open eyes,
And make them come true.

Navigating Grief’s Journey: Mental Visualizations for Healing – Ep. 89

Welcome to the 89th episode of “Journey from Grief to Healing” with your host, Dr. Ray Calabrese. Grieving is a painful but common human experience, and in this episode, we delve into how seemingly isolating that journey can be. Even in a world brimming with people, at times, we feel alone amid our sorrow. But remember, healing is possible. In “Journey from Grief to Healing: Episode 89,” listeners are invited into a tranquil space of mental visualization designed for those navigating the isolating road of grief.

Dr. Ray guides us through a step-by-step mental visualization designed to help you momentarily forget the fears, anxiety, and troubles surrounding you. As you detach from the world’s hustle and bustle and tune into your breath, you’re encouraged to let go of the tension that has made a home in your body. This visualization paints the picture of a hopeful future, represented by a sunlit path winding through a lush, verdant meadow. As you journey along this path, it’s all about shedding your burdens and embracing hope for a brighter tomorrow.

The visualization continues to guide you into the depths of relaxation and renewed optimism. You feel a rejuvenating sense of peace wash over you, nurtured by the sight of a sunset promising a new dawn. As the visualization concludes, you return to reality refreshed, carrying this newfound sense of hope and optimism into your day.

Remember, relinquishing the past and embracing the future is all part of the healing process. In each day, there is a new opportunity to shape your destiny with a hopeful heart. If you have any questions or would like to share your grieving journey with Dr. Ray, please send an email (ray.brese@gmail.com).

Today’s Thought: It’s Still Okay Even if it’s Not Perfect

Be master of your petty annoyances and conserve your energies for the big, worthwhile things. It isn’t the mountain ahead that wears you out – it’s the grain of sand in your shoe. ~ Robert W. Service

NOTE: I have a neighbor who gets wound up tight over small annoyances. She seldom smiles. Weeds in her lawn bother her. A dog’s barking bothers her. Kids playing their music too loud bother her. Then there are the community rules and regulations that others sometimes ignore, this bothers her. She has a lot on her plate. Our world isn’t perfect. People are not perfect. Dogs are going to poop on your lawn. If we don’t learn to roll with the annoyances in our lives we create our own unhappiness. When we see ourselves and our lives as imperfect it helps us to accept and maybe enjoy other imperfections into our life.

Thinking Out Loud – What Can You Control?

“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.” ~ Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

NOTE: Think of the things that can cause us to get upset? Many of them are outside our control. We can’t control if our team wins or loses. We can’t control who will win an election. We can’t control who our kids will fall in love with. We can’t control the weather. We can’t control how others feel about us. What we can control is ourselves and our reaction to people and events. If we want to be happy we won’t let people or events over which we have no control destroy our happiness. The only one I can control is me and how I respond to people and events. That’s my full time job!!

The Will to Win: A Poem by Berton Braley

The Will to Win

Berton Braley

If you want a thing bad enough
To go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it
If only desire of it
Makes you quite mad enough
Never to tire of it,
Makes you hold all other things tawdry and cheap for it
If life seems all empty and useless without it
And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,
If gladly you’ll sweat for it,
Fret for it,
Plan for it,
Lose all your terror of God or man for it,
If you’ll simply go after that thing that you want,
With all your capacity,
Strength and sagacity,
Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity,
If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt,
Nor sickness nor pain
Of body or brain
Can turn you away from the thing that you want,
If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,
You’ll get it!
