There’s a thick overcast over south Texas. It’s raining with no sign of letup. Sometimes, life feels that way. I know the sun is above the clouds, the rain will eventually stop, and blue sky will appear. Hang on. Don’t quit. It’s getting better.

đź’ˇ Something to Think About
Two questions to ponder:
-
-
- What matters?
- Who matters?
-
How one answers these questions has a lot to do with the happiness he/she finds.
đź’ˇ Something to Think About
I’m in a grateful mood today.
I have a warm south Texas sun and blue sky.
My daughters stay in touch and care about me.
I have great neighbors and friends.
I’m half way home with the COVID-19 vaccine (received my first shot).
I’m blessed with believing today is good and tomorrow will be even better.Â
I’m smiling as I write this post. Grateful works wonders.

One question to ask when involved in a disagreement is, “What question are we trying to answer?” If the answer is to attribute fault or determine who is right, it is time to ask a different question. A different question might sound like, “What would a good solution look like?”

The more I work to discover the good in someone, the more good I find.
The more good I find, the better we work together.

Life may not be fair, but it’s the only life we’ve got. Grab hold of it with two firm hands.
Hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

My grandmother (nonna to Italians) and my mom were both poor, but no one ever left their home hungry, without having a cup of coffee, glass of wine, or bottle of beer. They intuitively knew people were more important than things. Â Thanks for the lesson Nonna and Mom

There’s an internal voice inside, that says, “Don’t dare quit. Don’t dare give up. Sing, dance, laugh, and enjoy life.” Is it time to listen to the inner voice?

New Year’s Eve. When my wife was alive we would visit Starbucks each New Year’s Eve, buy coffees, grab a table and brainstorm all the good things that happened to us during the year. She put each of the good things in a gratitude journal. By the time we finished brainstorming, our moods were lifted, we knew the year, even with all its twists and turns, was good to us. Since her passing, I continue to journal all the good things that happened to me during the year. I can’t sit inside Starbucks this year, but that won’t stop me. I’ve got a pen and paper and it’s itching to write. Try it, and you’ll see there were many good things in your life this year. God bless you and I hope 2021 brings you many more good times.

Researchers report that psychological flexibility is a trait of happy people. They don’t start screaming and arguing when confronted with disappointment or disagreement. They’re able to adapt to situational demands and simultaneously maintain their deeply help core values. Being aware of what is happening and reflecting on it before acting is a good practice to sharpen psychological flexibility skills.
