Today’s Positive Thought ~ All of Our Life Prepares Us for the Moment
“All that happens to us, including our humiliations, our misfortunes, our embarrassments, all is given to us as raw material, as clay, so that we may shape our art ~ (Jorge Luis Borges.”
Wow, how do you like these words by Jorge Luis Borges? We are the sum of our experiences. If we love ourselves, we have our experiences to thank for shaping us, making us stronger, tougher, more resilient, and more loving. It’s a good reason to forgive those who’ve hurt us, they’ve been great teachers.
Think About It ~ Very Few Things are Impossible
From Alice in Wonderland, “For, you see, so many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible.” Alice was developing the right kind of thinking. When we get get stymied or stuck and can’t figure something out, it doesn’t mean our situation is impossible. It means that we have found the right solution. It means we have to continue searching. That’s the way it is with most things in life. Sometimes we have to set things aside and give our mind a chance to work on the problem while we’re working on something else. Keep going back to it, you’ll get it right. Remember that failure is only final when we quit.

Think About It ~ Learning the Lessons
Think about the toughest time you’ve experienced then ask yourself, ‘What can I learn from this experience?’ There are profound lessons to discover in each of our tough experiences. We learn these lessons because we survived the tough experience. We may have been wounded. We may always carry the scars from the experience. The scars remind us of our strength and resilience. The scars remind us of what we’ve learned. The scars remind us how we were able to transform something negative and painful into something positive and beneficial.

Rule 2: You’re going to have to work hard, maybe harder and longer than you’ve ever worked.
Rule 3: You’ll have to get along and work with folks you find disagreeable.
Rule 4. Talent is not as valuable as endurance and an unwillingness to never give up.
What have you lost that’s made you stronger?
What have you lost that’s made you stronger? Early in my career I took on an organization I felt was purposely biased against blacks. I tried to implement changes and was told I was dangerous and fired. It was tough being fired with five young children to support. It made me stronger, more resilient and more deeply committed to social justice. Use losses to make you stronger and more resilient. Don’t let the dark forces win.
