Podcast: The Art of Not Arriving: Lao Tzu’s Secret to Modern Flow

In a world obsessed with five-year plans, rigid schedules, and “arriving” at a destination, we often lose the very essence of the journey. In this episode, we break down the profound wisdom of Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching. We explore how the mindset of the traveler, the artist, and the scientist can transform our daily stress into a state of “flow.” From navigating difficult relationships to embracing professional uncertainty, we discuss how “embodying the light” allows us to see every situation—and every person—as an opportunity for growth rather than an obstacle.

Still ~ A Poem by T. P. Cameron Wilson

Still

T. P. Cameron Wilson

STILL though chaos
Works on the ancient plan;
Two things have changed not
Since first the world began.
The beauty of the wild green earth
And the bravery of man.

Today’s Poem ~ Steam of Life

Stream Of Life
Rabindranath Tagore
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

A Better Life ~ Some Days You Write the Song

Singer-Song writer Guy Clark wrote, “Some days you write the song / Some days the song writes you.” Clark’s words describe the flow of life. We can’t choose how the day will go. On the good days, we’re writing the song. On other days, it doesn’t matter what we want, the song writes us. All we can do on those kind of days is to let the song carry us along until it’s finished playing and we can go back to writing our song. Whatever kind of day you’re having, I hope you’re making it a great one.

Something to Think About

Lots of researchers have written about being in the flow or in the zone. Great athletes find themselves in the zone where everything else is blotted out and time slows down; it’s as if they’ve move into another dimension. Getting into the flow or zone is available to all of us. I find it when I am writing or cooking a meal. Without knowing it, I slip into the zone. It’s not something I can make happen, it happens. My guess is that most people have been in the zone and not realized it was the zone. I think it happens more frequently when we’re more deeply connected with what we’re doing and not letting extraneous thoughts cloud our minds. Happy traveling through the zone.

Something to Think About

The days are growing shorter in the northern hemisphere. The sun is setting more than an hour earlier than it did on the first day of summer in south Texas. In my morning sky I can now see the constellation Orion. Its belt is a familiar sight. There is a rhythm to Earth’s journey around the sun. When we discover the inherent rhythm in our lives and flow with it, we develop a sense of inner peace knowing there is a place and time for everything. Find your rhythm and enter the flow.

A Better Life ~ Go With the Flow

It’s not always a challenge. Go with flow you’ll go further, faster, and last a lot longer. Smile a lot more. Laugh deeply. Play music and dance with your partner. Enjoy the ride.
