Today’s Thought: Happines is Here

It’s easy to miss all the good things near us. They become familiar to us. We take them for granted until we don’t have them. Something like feeling great and suddenly we get a lower back spasm. When our back heals we know it feels so good to feel so good again. We are surrounded with wonderful things and people. If we open ourselves to them we’ll discover that happiness was all around us all the time. It’s not somewhere else. It’s not off in some exotic place. It’s here, around us, waiting for us to invite it into our lives.

Optimism Works ~ What is Going Well?

A Tip for Living a Hope-Filled and Optimistic Life

Focus on what is good in your life. What is going well? What are you good at? Who is there for you in your life? Some people find it helps to think about 3 good things that happened to you at the end of each day. If you can, tell someone else those 3 things.

Optimism Works ~ Counting Your Blessings Recharges You

Count your blessings. Emiliana Simon-Thomas of the Greater Good Science Center at the Uni-versity of California, Berkeley, USA, says that remembering what you’re grateful for will boost cheerful emotions. She suggests trying to keep a gratitude journal to get into the habit (Source).

Each of us has been blessed with good things happening to us throughout our day. When something goes wrong, we let the one wrong event take credit for the whole day. It’s a myth. Ask yourself, “What are the good things that happened to me today?” Did you have a hot shower? Did you start your day off with a hot cup of coffee or tea? Did someone say, ‘I love you.’ C’mon, think of the all the good things that a happened today and list them in your gratitude journal. I think I see a smile spreading across your face.

Make a list of all the good things that happened to You in 2022

Make a list of all the good things that happened to you in 2022. If you’re in a relationship, it’s a chance for a cheap date (head out to a coffee shop) and brainstorm the good things that happened to you as a couple and individually. You’ll discover 2022 wasn’t so bad after all. You’ll discover more good came to you than you realized. You’ll be filled gratefulness for 2022 and hope for 2023. Yes, make this time a time to focus on the good that surrounded you during the year.

What If . . .

What if today I decide to roll with it and take the day as it unfolds? I’ve never met a day where every single thing went my way. I’ve had plenty of good days. Yet, even in my good days, there are bumps here and there. I didn’t notice them because they were overwhelmed by the good things that were happening. If I’m looking for a perfect day, I may as well search for gold or an oil well on my property. I’m not going to find either one. If I roll with the day as it unfolds, I’m likely to enjoy the day, maybe get a few laughs out of it. And, maybe I’ll get a few great surprises I otherwise would not have noticed.

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • My rose bush keeps on giving me red rose after red rose. I love its beauty. It also teaches me a lesson as well. If I want to enjoy the beauty of the red roses, I have to enjoy its thorns when I prune it back. It’s a lot like life. Grateful.
  • I am amazed at the spirit of the people who live in this area. No one complains, everyone is keeping social distance, and kind words are shared when passing each other. We’ll get through this. Yes we will! Grateful.

We’re another day closer to winning this battle. Don’t be pulled underwater by the naysayers, we are going to get through it and come out better. Yes we Will. Pull together.

The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.

Grateful for all the above.

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • A friend of mine returns to work tomorrow. That’s a good thing. Grateful. Stay health. Stay Safe.
  • Streaming music – an incredible gift I don’t take for granted.Grateful for the artists who accompany me during my day and brighten it.
  • I bought some south Texas oranges today. Truly delicious. A good tasting orange always lifts my mood. Love the smell of citrus.

We’re another day closer to winning this battle. Lots of smart and dedicated people across our globe are hard at work to find a vaccine and successful treatment. There is no doubt, it will happen.

The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • I write this post on Mother’s Day and can’t help but think of my mom. My mom was the daughter of immigrants. Her mom died when she was two and she never got past 4th grade. Yet, one of my earliest memories is my mom taking me to the public library to get a library card. She instilled in me a desire to learn and taught me early on how to respect women. Thanks Mom. Say a prayer for me. Grateful.
  • My deceased wife was a great mom to our 5 daughters. She was an example of strength, compassion, kindness and wisdom. They all have become wonderful women and mothers. Thanks, Babe. Say a prayer for me and the girls. Grateful.
  • It’s a warm, sunny, lazy feeling kind of south Texas afternoon. It’s time for a large iced tea, bowl of strawberries, and the patio.

We’re another day closer to kicking COVID-19’s butt. It’s going to happen. You know it. Stay strong. Don’t despair. Hang in there.

The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.

Grateful for all the above.

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • A Mexican blue bird visited today. If you’ve never seen one, you’re missing a real treat. Thanks for the visit blue bird.
  • I’m making Mexican black beans for dinner in the slow cooker. The fragrance is tempting me to run to the store for tortillas. I have avocados for guacamole. Italian and Mexican foods are my favs! Grateful.
  • A neighbor driving by while I walked, stopped her car to check on me. How’s that for neighbors having your back? Grateful for good neighbors.
  • We’re another day closer to a solution. It’s going to happen. Don’t give up. Stay strong, wash your hands, and keep smiling.

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • I met my Italian friend Sal (we both have the funny northeast accent) on my walk. Sal gave me his special secret for a great sauce. Thanks Sal. Pasta night will come sooner than expected.
  •  Today’s visitors included cardinals, Mexican bluebirds, hummingbirds, and a sparrow family reunion (LOL). They all cheer me up.
  • It was a warm south Texas day, perfect for sipping iced tea this afternoon on the patio and reading a book. Grateful.
  • Grateful for all everyone who is working on vaccine or a cure. It’s a matter of time before they cross the goal line. BELIEVE!
