Today’s Quote: There are Better Ways

Hating people is like burning down your own house to get rid of a rat. ~ Harry Emerson Fosdick

Photo of the Day ~ It’s Our Home

Planet Earth

It’s our shared home.

Why not treat it with the same love

We treat in the place we call home

Building a home is a cooperative effort. When we work together we build a home, strong families, all bound together by love,

Today’s Inspiration ~ A Path to World Peace

“If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.”

Better Life ~ Coming Home

When I’ve traveled alone, the best feeling is not getting to where I wanted to go, but in coming home. Home is the place where I’m accepted. Home is the place where I am loved for who I am. No matter how far I’ll travel, home will always be the best destination.

A Better Life ~ Is it a House or a Home?

Is your house/apartment a home? Is it an inviting place? Does it provide you with a sense of peace and a place where you can renew your strength? Is it filled with love? I’ve walked into houses/apartments and the environment was filled with nice things, yet, I’ve felt as much at home as in museum. I’ve walked into other houses/apartments and knew I was in a home. I felt I was apart of and not a part from the environment and all who lived there. When I left, I left feeling energized and renewed.

Today’s Poem ~ Home and Love

Home And Love
Robert William Service
Just Home and Love! the words are small
Four little letters unto each;
And yet you will not find in all
The wide and gracious range of speech
Two more so tenderly complete:
When angels talk in Heaven above,
I’m sure they have no words more sweet
Than Home and Love.

Just Home and Love! it’s hard to guess
Which of the two were best to gain;
Home without Love is bitterness;
Love without Home is often pain.
No! each alone will seldom do;
Somehow they travel hand and glove:
If you win one you must have two,
Both Home and Love.

And if you’ve both, well then I’m sure
You ought to sing the whole day long;
It doesn’t matter if you’re poor
With these to make divine your song.
And so I praisefully repeat,
When angels talk in Heaven above,
There are no words more simply sweet
Than Home and Love.

A Better Life ~ Finding Home

Home isn’t so much a place as it is being with those we love wherever we may be. Whenever we are with people who love us and whom we love, we are home.

Something to Think About

It’s impossible for us to change the world. It is possible for us to change our personal world. We begin by asking what kind of world do we want? The world we want includes our home, family, neighbors, and folks with whom we work. Having a big house filled with lots of things doesn’t make a house a home. What will make your house/apartment a home? What kind of relationships do you want? Do you want relationships filled with understanding, generosity, forgiveness, and love?  Creating the kind of world you want takes hard work.
