Something to Think About

Not everything we hear is worth listening to. When we become selective listeners we can separate the noise from what is worthwhile hearing. If I ask myself the following questions if helps me to choose what is worthwhile:

  1. Is it uplifting?
  2. Is it truthful?
  3. Does it add to an ongoing conversation?
  4. Is it other centered?
  5. Does it offer hope?

If it doesn’t hit these five notes, it may be noise and not worth worth tuning in to.

Today’s Power Thought ~ It’s Time to Move On

Ever find yourself reacting in the same old way? Do you like how you feel after you react? Is it time to let go of that response and create new, positive, empowering ways to react?

Today’s Word ~ Surround

Surround means to be everywhere around something. We are all surrounded. What kinds of people surround you? Are they supportive, encouraging, inspiring, and kind? If not, it may be time to change membership in the types of folks who surround you. What is the type of music that surrounds you? Does it motivate you? Does it give you an energy boost? Dose it elevate you and bring you joy? Or, does it make you angry, hyper, and flood your mind with thoughts that do not elevate you? Think of everything surrounding you, you have the power to begin renovating your surroundings.

“Whatever you want in life, other people are going to want it too. Believe in yourself enough to accept the idea that you have an equal right to it.”

Longevity Hack: #2 of 5 Anti-Aging Secrets

Get Your Stubborn On

We often associate stubbornness with the aging grandma who refuses to give up driving, . . . or the spouse who constantly locks himself out of the house yet still chooses not to put a spare key underneath the mat in the garage. But a determination to stay the course and a refusal to change an attitude about something despite what others might say isn’t always a bad thing. The athlete who got cut from the varsity team for two years and then finally made it because he refused to give up is remarkably stubborn. So is the runner who insists on the same trail run each morning in snow and rain and heat and the gloom of night. In these cases, stubbornness is inspiring. Your stubbornness is a longevity friend.

It Takes Courage ~ Anonymous

It Takes Courage

It takes strength to be firm, it takes courage to be gentle.
It takes strength to conquer, it takes courage to surrender.
It takes strength to be certain, it takes courage to have doubt.
It takes strength to fit in, it takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend’s pain, it takes courage to feel your own pain.
It takes strength to endure abuse, it takes courage to stop it.
It takes strength to stand alone, it takes courage to lean on another.
It takes strength to love, it takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive, it takes courage to live.

“Only  as  high  as  I  reach  can  I  grow,

Only  as  far  as  I  seek  can  I  go,

Only  as  deep  as  I  look  can  I  see,
