Each day we have a choice: We can complain about our situation; or, we can resolve to make the most of it. I don’t know about you, but to me it seems like a no brainer. Resolve to make the best of whatever is. The alternative is to spiral into despair, depression, and a permanent funk. I like to hang out with people who fight back, won’t quit, and shake it off and get going each they fall. They inspire me. This video of Junn Abriza inspired me to keep on going and never quit. Well worth three minutes.

Never be satisfied. You’ve got so much more to offer. Dig deeper. Keep digging, digging, and digging. Keep growing, growing, and growing. Even if no one ever hears of you. Keep digging. It’s all about what’s inside you. If you and I keep digging and growing we’ll do something very special. We’ll show others that ordinary people who won’t lie down are capable of extraordinary things.

We humans are an amazing species! When we refuse to quit; when we don’t return the RSVP to the pity party; when we dig down deep grabbing hold of handful of determination, courage, and desire. nothing will stop us. Are you stuck? Running in place? Feeling sorry for yourself because things are not going your way? A young woman, Jessica, without any arms, learned to fly a plane and lives a full, meaning-filled life. Go Jessica, you are a wonderful example for us.

 

Life Is Tough – But You’re Tougher!

Years ago, I began reading a book by M. Scott Peck and the first sentence was, “Life is difficult.” I called to Babe (my wife) and hollered, “This guy knows what he’s talking about.” Yes, life is tough. We each have moments. The tough times can knock us down. They can knock the wind out of us. They can leave us for dead. But, you and I are strong. We get up again and again. We don’t quit. The following Vimeo video provides a great pep talk on getting up and not quitting for any reason.

You Are Capable of Greatness

Every person is capable of greatness. Whether you are young, old, black, white, brown, yellow, red, green, or purple; it doesn’t matter. You can be Catholic, Protestant, evangelical, Morman, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, and not religious at all; you are capable of greatness. You can be male or female; you are capable of greatness.

Every person is capable of greatness. It may be greatness in the eyes of a child, neighbor, or stranger. It may be greatness at work or in front of a crowd of 100,000 people. it doesn’t matter. You are capable of greatness when you take your great gift and develop it to the full and share it with all who come in contact with you. It’s the who you are. The who you are is a wonderful gift. Keep on growing and glowing.

 

Don’t Quit – Give It All You’ve Got

I’ve always liked sports. I enjoyed the competition, comradery, and the discipline participation taught me. The athletes who participate in sporting events often offer great metaphors for us. In the following YouTube video, the athlete could have easily quit, no one would have noticed except her teammates. She could have given less than full effort. Instead, her 110% effort becomes our metaphor to never quit, no matter how dire the circumstances. The only time failure is certain is when we quit. Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Give it all you’ve got.

How many times have you felt like giving up? The dream, which once grabbed hold of your heart, lost its pull on you and faded away like the morning dew. Hold on to the dream. Hold it tight with both hands. Hold it so tight that even the jaws of life couldn’t pry it loose from you.
