Today’s Poem ~ A Prayer

A Prayer
Claude McKay
‘Mid the discordant noises of the day I hear thee calling;
I stumble as I fare along Earth’s way; keep me from falling.

Mine eyes are open but they cannot see for gloom of night:
I can no more than lift my heart to thee for inward light.

The wild and fiery passion of my youth consumes my soul;
In agony I turn to thee for truth and self-control.

For Passion and all the pleasures it can give will die the death;
But this of me eternally must live, thy borrowed breath.

‘Mid the discordant noises of the day I hear thee calling;
I stumble as I fare along Earth’s way; keep me from falling.

Today’s Good Word ~ Ignite

When we hear the word ignite, we may first think of fire or something that starts a fire. What is it that ignites the passion in you? I believe we all have smoldering embers within us waiting to ignite a roaring blaze. When our thinking and passion align, a roaring blaze occurs. We fill with energy and excitement. Can you think of a time when the flames within were ignited and the embers within grew into a roaring fire? If it happened once, it can happen again. If it hasn’t happened, keep looking, your thinking and passion will align. When they do, tell everyone to move aside, you’re on your way.

❤️ I Do Not Love You Except I Love You ~ Pablo Neruda

I Do Not Love You Except I love You

Pablo Neruda

I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

I love you only because it’s you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.

Maybe January light will consume
My heart with its cruel
Ray, stealing my key to true calm.

In this part of the story I am the one who
Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood.

Something to Think About

Dare To Dream

“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.”

Excerpt From
As a Man Thinketh
James Allen

What dream stirs your passion? What would it look like if your greatest dream came true? Place yourself into this image. What is the first small step you can take to make this dream a reality?

Dream On!

Today’s Quote by Nelson Mandela on Living Passionately

“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

—Nelson Mandela

Kisses in the Train ~ Poem by D. H. Lawrence

KISSES IN THE TRAIN

I saw the midlands
Revolve through her hair;
The fields of autumn
Stretching bare,
And sheep on the pasture
Tossed back in a scare.
And still as ever
The world went round,
My mouth on her pulsing
Neck was found,
And my breast to her beating
Breast was bound.
But my heart at the centre
Of all, in a swound
Was still as a pivot,
As all the ground
On its prowling orbit
Shifted round.
And still in my nostrils
The scent of her flesh,
And still my wet mouth
Sought her afresh;
And still one pulse
Through the world did thresh.
And the world all whirling
Around in joy
Like the dance of a dervishiv
Did destroy
My sense—and my reason
Spun like a toy.
But firm at the centre
My heart was found;
Her own to my perfect
Heart-beat bound,
Like a magnet’s keeper
Closing the round.

Quote by Sharon Olds on Writing

There is something in me maybe someday to be written; now it is folded, and folded, and folded, like a note in school.

One must never let the fire go out in one’s soul, but keep it burning.
