Eternal Sunrise: How to Be a Consistent Force for Good

Every second, the sun is rising somewhere on this planet, chasing away the shadows of a night it just left behind. What if your kindness worked the same way?

In his timeless reflection, John Muir reminds us that the world is in a state of constant, beautiful renewal. He writes:

“This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.”

This “grand show” isn’t just a physical phenomenon; it is a blueprint for how we can live our lives. Being a difference maker doesn’t require a single, monumental explosion of effort. Instead, it asks us to join the “eternal sunrise.” Just as the earth never stops rolling, our opportunities to be a force for good never truly cease.

When you feel discouraged, remember that the “dew is never all dried at once.” There is always a corner of the world—a neighbor, a colleague, or a stranger—waiting for the light you carry. Your impact is part of a global cycle of compassion. When you choose to act with empathy, you are the sunrise for someone else’s dark night. By embracing this rhythm, we realize that doing good isn’t a chore; it’s a participation in the natural order of a thriving world.

How to Improve Your Life Today

  • Practice “Sunrise Thinking”: Start every morning by identifying one person you can “shine” on through a simple word of encouragement.
  • Adopt Consistency Over Intensity: Like the rolling earth, focus on small, daily acts of service rather than waiting for “perfect” timing.
  • Release the Sunset: Just as the day ends to make room for a new one, forgive your past mistakes and focus on the renewal of the present moment.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”Ralph Waldo Emerson

How to Attract Your Tribe: The Secret to Positive Connections

What if the key to finding the perfect community isn’t searching for it, but becoming the person that community is looking for?

“Connecting with others gives us a sense of inclusion, connection, interaction, safety, and community. Your vibe attracts your tribe, so if you want to attract positive and healthy relationships, be one! Staying connected and getting reconnected feeds the flow of goodness which empowers our humanity.” ― Susan C. Young

The Power of the Positive Ripple: Why Your Vibe is Your Greatest Asset

We often wait for the world to be kinder before we open our hearts, but the truth is actually the other way around. You are the thermostat, not the thermometer. You don’t just record the temperature of the room; you set it.

As Susan C. Young beautifully reminds us, “Your vibe attracts your tribe, so if you want to attract positive and healthy relationships, be one!” Connection isn’t just a social luxury; it is our biological and spiritual lifeline. It provides the safety and community we need to thrive. When we choose to show up with authenticity and kindness, we feed a “flow of goodness” that extends far beyond our immediate circle. Being a difference-maker doesn’t always require a grand stage; it starts with the energy you bring to a simple conversation or the way you reconnect with a long-lost friend. By being the healthy, positive presence you wish to see, you empower the humanity in everyone you touch.

3 Ways to Improve Your Life Today

  • Audit Your Energy: Before entering a meeting or a home, take ten seconds to set your intention. Ask yourself, “What energy do I want to contribute to this space?”
  • The Reconnection Reach-Out: Identify one person who once added value to your life but you’ve lost touch with. Send a short, no-pressure text today to “feed the flow of goodness.”
  • Model the Behavior: If you want more appreciation in your life, start by giving three specific compliments to others. Watch how the “tribe” around you shifts in response.

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” — Aesop

Why Your Mindset is the Secret Sauce to Your Success

Stop letting worry choke your progress. Learn how to water your dreams with optimism and turn every hurdle into a win.

“Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.” ― Lao Tzu

Reflection

Ever feel like you’re working your tail off, but your big goals still feel out of reach? Pull up a chair, let’s talk about what’s actually happening under the surface.

I came across a bit of wisdom from Lao Tzu that I just had to share with you. He said, “Be careful what you water your dreams with.” Think about that for a second. If you’re constantly feeding your goals with “what-ifs,” “I’m not ready,” or fear of making a mistake, you’re basically planting weeds in your own garden. Before you know it, those weeds choke out the excitement you started with.

But here’s the shift: When you start watering those same dreams with optimism and solutions, everything changes. Instead of seeing a difficult project as a roadblock, see it as the gym where you build your professional muscles. Every “problem” we hit this week is actually just an opportunity in a really good disguise.

You have so much potential, and I want to see you cultivate it properly. Don’t just work hard—think hard about what you’re feeding your mind while you do it. Let’s keep looking for ways to nurture that vision you have for your career. You’ve got this!

Three Actions for You This Week:

  1. The “Flip” Exercise: Every time you catch yourself worrying about a deadline, stop and name one specific solution you can implement right now.
  2. Audit Your Garden: Identify one negative habit (like overthinking) that is acting as a “weed” and replace it with a positive morning ritual.
  3. Find the Hidden Gem: Take the hardest task on your plate today and list three things you will learn by completing it.

Laugh a Little Bit ~ A Poem by Edmund Vance Cooke

Laugh a Little Bit: The Secret Strength Behind Every Smile

When life throws its punches, laughter isn’t denial—it’s defiance. Discover how a light heart can lift even the heaviest days.

Laugh a Little Bit

Edmund Vance Cooke

Here’s a motto, just your fit–
Laugh a little bit.
When you think you’re trouble hit,
Laugh a little bit.
Look misfortune in the face.
Brave the beldam’s rude grimace;
Ten to one ’twill yield its place,
If you have the wit and grit
Just to laugh a little bit.

Keep your face with sunshine lit,
Laugh a little bit.
All the shadows off will flit,
If you have the grit and wit
Just to laugh a little bit.

Cherish this as sacred writ–
Laugh a little bit.
Keep it with you, sample it,
Laugh a little bit.
Little ills will sure betide you,
Fortune may not sit beside you,
Men may mock and fame deride you,
But you’ll mind them not a whit
If you laugh a little bit.

Reflection

Edmund Vance Cooke’s “Laugh a Little Bit” is more than a cheerful poem—it’s a roadmap to emotional strength. Cooke reminds us that laughter isn’t just an escape from life’s difficulties; it’s a way of meeting them head-on with courage and grace. When we laugh in the face of misfortune, we reclaim our power. Each smile is an act of rebellion against despair.

There’s profound wisdom in the poem’s simplicity. Cooke suggests that humor is not a luxury—it’s a necessity for sanity and hope. Even when the world feels heavy, laughter acts as a lifeline, reminding us that our spirit is bigger than our circumstance.

So when life darkens, don’t retreat. Light it up—from within.

6 Smart Ways to Protect Your Positivity from the Naysayers

Negativity spreads fast—but your optimism is stronger. Here’s how to rise above the naysayers and keep your spirit unshakable.

Don’t let the naysayers drag you down. They’re everywhere. They’re in the news. They’re in our families. They’re lurk among our co-workers. These are the folks that want to drag you down to their level. You don’t have time for them.

Here’s a six strategies to get past them.

  1. Don’t hang out with them. Instead, hang out with people who inspire you and make you feel better about life.
  2. When you get stuck with them, smile and say, something like, “That’s interesting” or “I’ll think about it.”
  3. Always have an escape excuse ready. When I know II’m going to caught with a naysayer, I have an escape word I put into a text message ready to be sent a daughter. When she sees it, shel’ll call and I have a ready made “emergency” escape clause.
  4. Keep smiling and nodding, but send your mind on a vacation. Me? I’ll go to a favorite spot of mine in the Rocky Mountains National Park.
  5. You might have to give them an hour, but you don’t have to give them the other 23. Keep reminding yourself of this truth.
  6. End Interactions on Your Terms – If a conversation drains you, don’t feel guilty about ending it. A simple, “I’ve got to run, but let’s talk later” protects your peace and models emotional maturity.

Final Reflection:At the end of the day, naysayers only have the power we give them. Their words fade when we choose not to echo them in our minds. We can walk away, change the subject, or simply smile and let their negativity dissolve in our calm. Whether it’s having an “escape text” ready, imagining your peaceful spot in the Rockies, or curating your circle of encouragers, every act of self-protection keeps your spirit light. Remember, positivity isn’t naivety—it’s strength wrapped in grace. The more you practice it, the less their shadows reach you. Your happiness doesn’t need their approval. It just needs your attention.

Stay close to people who feel like sunlight.” – Xan Oku

Laughter Is Sacred: Choosing Joy Over Anger

Laughter is more than amusement—it’s a sacred act of healing, freedom, and connection.

Laughter is a holy thing. It is as sacred as music and silence and solemnity, maybe more sacred. Laughter is like a prayer, like a bridge over which creatures tiptoe to meet each other. Laughter is like mercy; it heals. When you can laugh at yourself, you are free. ~Ted Loder

I like to laugh. I like to watch shows that make me laugh. I like to be around people who make me laugh and are fun to be with. When we lighten up and stop taking ourselves and everything too seriously life suddenly becomes better. It’s difficult for me to imagine how some can go through life always being upset. Lots of people make money from being upset. They rant on social media sites. They make videos sharing their anger with us. The good news is we have a choice. We can choose what we watch. We can choose who we associate with, for the most part. And we can choose what we read. Make a goal to bring some laughter into your life. Make a goal to take an inventory of the people you hang out with. Do you feel good after hanging out with them or do they leave you feeling blue? Do they make you happy or make you angry? Make happy, love and laughter filled choices.

Practice Gratitude Like You Mean It

Gratitude: Your Brain’s Natural Antidepressant

A grateful heart rewires your brain—and your life.

Gratitude doesn’t just feel good—it’s good for you. Neuroscience research reveals that regular gratitude practice activates brain regions associated with dopamine and serotonin, the feel-good chemicals (Zahn et al., 2009).

Spend a few minutes each day writing down 3 things you’re thankful for. Be specific. “My hot coffee this morning” or “My neighbor’s wave.” The more details, the more impact.

You’ll start to notice the good more often, even in hard moments. Gratitude is a lens—it helps you see that even when life is imperfect, it can still be beautiful.

Dancing Through the Day

What happens when you wake up turbo-charged, the moon winks at you, and the birds sing your theme song? You dance through the universe, leaving grumpy faces in your stardust. Come along—you might just rediscover how terrific today can be.

I think today is going to be a terrific day. All signs point to it. I rose early. I felt great. When I did my early mining exercises I was turbo charged. After my shower, I stepped outside. It was still dark, but the birds were singing. The moon was showing off it’s beauty. I think the cosmos was celebrating with me. My expectations for this day are high. I admit my expectations for every day are high. I’ve always been this way. I think I’ll play some dancing music and dance through the day. No gloomy people allowed around my circle today. Wave at me as I fly by on my trips around our solar system. I hope you have a similar day. I’ll be seeing you as we pass each other. Shine on!
