Today’s tools await us to apply them to a new creation. There are people we’ll meet. There are people we live with. There are things we’re planning to do. There are unexpected events. There’s the weather. There’s our work. These are the tools we can use to create a spectacular day. What is the focus of our day. Is it confined to ourselves? Or, do we dare broaden our vision to include other people? We have in front of us an opportunity to make today something special for those we encounter as well as ourselves. What are you waiting for? Time’s a wasting.

Today’s Thought: Light and Darkness, It’s Always a Choice
There is an ongoing battle between light and darkness. The two cannot coexist. The darkness draws us into anger and rage and minimizing people who are different from us. The light draws us toward respect, compassion, and cooperation. The darkness asks us to fear others because they are different. It builds false images and speaks of them as a reality. The light sees things as they are drawing people together to make a difference. Although, at times darkness seems to prevail, in the end, historically, light always triumphs over darkness.
Today’s Thought: What Gets You Up in the Morning?
Who and what are you working for? I’m competitive and I enjoyed being successful. Being successful was not my main life’s goal.. I was working to take of my family, my wife and five daughters. The girls came so fast I often referred to them as the Cape Kennedy countdown. LOL I wouldn’t trade a moment of their growing up. That’s what got me up each day. That’s what fueled my desire to be successful. I wanted to provide for them and I wanted to be an example for them. It was always about family for me. Although the girls are all on their own and Babe, my wife, passed on, for me, it’s still all about family. What is it that gets you up? Who and what are you working for?
Today’s Thought: I’m In Favor of Second Chances
Ever done something you’ve regretted? I have, more than once. I will always remember the times and people who gave me a second chance. We all need second chances. Sometimes a third or fourth chance. I’ve tried to make the best of my second chances and third chances. A little forgiveness goes a long way in helping someone out and getting back on the right road.
Today’s Thought: Forego Anger, Work to Resolve Issues
One of the easiest emotions to tap into is anger. Couple anger with fear and wrap it in bias and you’ve created a tornado capable of great destruction that in the end doesn’t discriminate who it hurts. It’s a lot more difficult to work through differences and seek areas of agreement. Strong people seek areas of agreement and forego the tornado spewing vitriol.
Today’s Thought: It’s Why I Wear Earplugs
The voices they’re all around us. They tell us we can’t do it. They tell us we’re foolish. They demand we listen to them if we know what is good for us. That’s why I wear earplugs. I won’t listen to naysayers. I won’t listen to people who are doom and gloom. I look for sunrises and rainbows. So what if I fail. It won’t be the first time and it won’t be the last. I’ll keep on trying. I’ll wave to the voices as I pass on by. Let’s live with hope. Let’s live with optimism. Let’s live with a vigor and vitality that refuses to quit.
Today’s Thought: It’s No Big Deal
It’s easy to let the small, inconsequential things get under our skin. If we’re not careful, these small things fester. Before too long, the small things become a big thing blown well out of proportion. It’s not the other person who is making us miserable, it”s ourselves making ourselves miserable. That’s crazy when you think about it. Why would any sane person want to make themselves miserable? Not every issue or slight needs to be confronted. Not every issue is worth attention or envy. When we let the inconsequential go, we feel better, we may save a relationship, and we don’t add to the anger that currently abounds all around us.
Today’s Thought: Try Slow Jamming Your Day
I overslept this morning. I’m normally up by 5 a.m. I slept in. I didn’t wake up until 5:30 a.m. LOL My morning routine was teetering on falling apart. Somewhere between doing the plank and pushups I decided to let my routine fall apart. What’s the worse that could happen? Would I put an Arab – Israeli truce in peril? Would getting out of my routine cause the Olympics to be cancelled. Would getting out of my routine cause a traffic jam on I-35 heading into San Antonio? The irrational part of my brain said yes to all those question and offered up several catastrophes that might occur. I decided to slow jam my day. The hell with it. Let the catastrophes happen, A crazy thing happened. No, there still is no solution to the Arab – Israeli conflict. Traffic jams occur naturally on I-35. And, it looks like all systems are go for the Olympics to start on schedule. I discovered by slow jamming my day I actually accomplished more than I normally would have accomplished. Go figure. Try slow jamming your day. I felt a lot better not being rushed and not caring if I got everything done.
Today’s Thought: It’s Not the Gift That Counts
Have you ever spent lots of time trying to pick out the perfect gift for someone? You find it and and know the person you gift it to will love it. When you gift it, you can see the expression on the other person’s face. They don’t like it. They may say thank you, but you know it’s either going back to the store, regifted, or tossed out. It’s happened to me. One thing is for sure, we can’t control other people and how they respond. We can control our reaction and our attitude. In this case, we expressed our love through our time and careful choice of the right gift. That will never change. We can thank the receiver of the gift for teaching us a great lesson: always be grateful. The gift wasn’t the physical present. It was the effort and love behind it.
Today’s Thought: Today’s Adventures Are Waiting for You
Are you ready for today’s adventures? They’re waiting for you. Who knows where they will carry you. Be open to surprises, new people, and new knowledge. Everything that is coming to you today will help prepare you for tomorrow. Free up your inner child and go after this day with gusto. If disappointment hits, shake it off and go on to the next adventure. Who knows how many dragons you’ll slay or secret treasures you find. Perhaps your muse will knock at your door and crank your creativity up a couple of notches. Today is yours. Don’t miss a minute of it.
