Today’s Good Word ~ Beauty

Beauty – Def: the quality of being pleasingespecially to look at, or someone or something that gives great pleasureespecially when you look at it.

I live in the American southwest. Every morning and evening blesses me with a beautiful sunrise or sunset. I see beautiful birds flocking to my feeder and serenading me with their beautiful songs each morning. I see beauty in the face of people of all ages, races, shapes, and colors. What a wonderful, amazing, beautiful world that I have the joy of experiencing. I hope you see beauty in everyone and everywhere your journey takes you.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “My doctor told me I was overweight and needed to go on a diet.”

Pete: “Did your doctor give you any advice?”

Joe: “My doctor was blunt. He said, ‘I’m not going to sugarcoat my advice because you’ll eat that too.'”

Today’s Good Word ~ Truthful

Truthful – Def: honest and not containing or telling any lies.

Being truthful is a mark of one’s character. It is the glue that holds relationships together. If we are truthful in all matters, people can trust us. They know that we will not cheat, lie, or create a narrative that has no basis in truth. Being truthful means that what we tell others is accurate and honest. It is also a way of taking responsibility for our actions and the results of our actions. That’s not always easy, especially when situations are not to our liking. We don’t spin an event to make it look better than what it actually is. Truthful folks are sorely needed in our world at every level. They are a shining light. Make your light shine.

Today’s Good Word ~ Renew

Renew – Def: to increase the life of or replace something old.

Renew speaks to bringing something that has been, up to date so it can continue to function well, and, perhaps function at a higher level. We can renew our commitment to the special person in our life and make the relationship stronger. We can renew our emotional energy by going on vacation. We can renew our bodies by eating healthy and regularly exercising. We can renew our minds by reading good books, watching movies that inspire us. When we commit to renewing ourselves we take a long look in the mirror and reflect on what needs to be changed. When we accept renewal as a part of life, we adapt more easily to our changing environment. Don’t be frightened of renewing, adapting, and changing. You’ll be ready for anything that comes your way.

I believe you have a special gift that the world needs. It may be extraordinary like curing cancer. Or, it may be that you will make one other human being feel unconditionally loved during his/her lifetime. We know when we discover our unique gift, we have a sense of this is why I was born. Today’s Good Word ~ Nourishment

Nourishment – Def: food that you need to grow and stay healthy.

It’s important to nourish our bodies with the right foods if we want to live a healthy, active lives. Nourishment can also be applied to how we nourish our minds. We can use the computer science word GIGO (garbage in – garbage out) to describe what happens to us when we nourish our minds, with garbage. What we put into our minds, shapes our thinking. Our thinking shapes our actions. When we poorly feed our minds, our actions reflect the poor choices we make. Conversely, if we take care in nourishing our minds with what helps us to be more fully human, more fully alive, our lives soon reflect that nourishment. We begin to unleash our unlimited potential.

Today’s Good Word ~ Inspiring

Inspiring ~ Def: encouraging, or making you feel you want to do something

I like being around people who inspire me. They inspire me by example, words, or challenging me to lift my game. Inspiring people let us know we can be better, do better, and reach for things we thought were beyond us. There is a an elderly woman who lives in my neighborhood. She needs a walker to get around. Does that stop her. No. She drives a large pickup truck, works in her garden, and lives alone. She’s an inspiration. I know a physical therapist who is one of nine children and she is the first in her family to go to college and graduate. She is an inspiration. I see men and women who lost legs in combat wearing prosthetics and not letting the loss of a limb limit them. They are an inspiration. We inspire others through the lives we lead. Our actions speak significantly louder than preached words. Let your life become an inspiring example to all who pass your way.

Today’s Good Word ~ Sunshine

Sunshine – Def: (1) the light and heat that come from the sun. (2) happiness or pleasure.

All living beings need the sunshine. We can’t survive without it. Sunshine is great metaphor. When we bring the sunshine to others, we share a spirit of joy and happiness. Our smile radiates our warmth, our eyes sparkle with a deep happiness, and we give off a vibe that everything, no matter had bad it might be, is going to work out. When we bring the sunshine to others, we lift their spirits, light up their darkness, and leave them feeling better than when we entered their orbit. They now walk with a smile and the sun and blue sky overhead. C’mon, life is good, bring the sunshine.

Anticipation – Def: a feeling of excitement about something that is going to happen in the near future

As a child I remember anticipating Christmas. I couldn’t wait for Christmas and my excitement grew by the day. I still anticipate Christmas. I enjoy being with friends and family. I enjoy going to church on Christmas Day. The event matched my anticipation. Anticipation is a healthy emotion when we anticipate positive results, a good time, and a new adventure. Anticipation ignites a spark of life within us. We get our passports ready, we buy airplane tickets, we buy new clothes, and we eagerly await our trip. Once we arrive, we anticipate the new things we’ll see, the new foods we will try, and the new people we will meet. Set yourself up for a healthy dose of anticipation. It’s healthy to anticipate adventures, positive outcomes, and good times. You deserve it. Don’t wait now is the time.
