Today’s Good Word ~ Action

Action – Def: the process of doing something, especially when dealing with a problem or difficulty

If you want to dance, you have to walk on the dance floor. If you want to play in the game, you have to get out of the stands and get on the field. Action is a difference maker. Fear of failing or not receiving someone’s approval move one into the freezer where action impossible. We can’t have certitude in our actions. They have to play out and be judged by the outcomes they produce. We can have certitude if we don’t act. Things will stay the same or get worse. If you have an idea or a gut impulse, give it thought, ask for advice, but act on it. I’ve known people who wait for a better day to act. They scan the horizon for everything to fall into place. They fail to realize that things fall into place after we act. It’s as if the universe dares us to try before cooperating with us. Have no fear. Take action. Dare to fail. Dare to succeed. Dare.

Today’s Good Word ~ Brighten

Brighten – Def: to (cause to) become happy or full of hope.

I like feel good movies and feel good people. They brighten my day. I like to have lunch with people who are happy and full of hope. They brighten my day. I like to listen to people who talk of possibilities and what can be. They inspire me. They brighten my day. It’s the same way with the music I listen to. I like music that makes me want to sing along and dance. The music brightens my day. Each of us has the potential to brighten someone else’s day. When we brighten others we chase away the darkness.

Today’s Good Word ~ Curiosity

Curiosity – Def: an eager wish to know or learn about something

Young children are curious. As their mobility increases, so does their desire to figure out the world around them even if it is dangerous. When we are curious, we ask questions. We’re not satisfied with things the way they are. Curious people ask why. And, they ask, why not. Often, when we are curious, we step on other people’s toes because we are challenging their long accepted ways of doing things. Curiosity is a pathway to growth. it is a pathway to learning. Be curious. Let your curiosity challenge your thinking. Let your curiosity ask if there is a better or different way. You never know what you’ll discover.

Today’s Good Word ~ Declutter

Declutter – Def: to remove things you do not need from a place, in order to make it more pleasant and more useful.

Is it time to declutter? Are the closets full of clothes you haven’t worn this year? I have a personal guideline, if I don’t wear it during the season, I give it to a charitable organization. We can declutter our homes and work spaces, it simplifies things. The fewer things I have, the less I have to worry about. Emotional decluttering is as important as physical decluttering. When we hold on to anger, resentment, and grudges we’re weighed down. Holding onto harmful emotions is like taking a pan out of a hot oven without oven mitts. When we declutter our harmful emotions, we create a healthy emotional environment where healthy emotions grow. We were meant to fly. I’m off to do some decluttering. C’mon, join me.

Today’s Good Word ~ Relaxation

Relaxation – Def: to become less active and more calm and happy.

I know people who are busy from the moment they awaken to the time they go to bed. When I ask them if they ever relax they tell me that their work is their relaxation. I don’t argue with them. We need, however, opportunities to get away from the stressors. We need opportunities to find a change of pace. We need opportunities to “turn off the noise.” Can you watch TV without looking at your smart phone? Can you eat a meal with your smart phone tucked away? Can you have a conversation without bringing up work or stressful topics? Small changes to acquired behaviors can make all the difference. Make relaxation opportunities a priority. The benefits will amaze you.

👍 Upbeat Words ~ Abundance

Abundance (def: to exist in great quantity).

How do you see yourself? Do you see yourself lacking in abundance of the the good things of life or do you see yourself overflowing with abundance of the the good things of life? How we view ourselves and our lives goes far to determine how happy we are and how happy we make those who are close to us feel. When I think of abundance for myself I think of clean water, clean air, good friends, loving daughters, cherished memories of a great relationship. Yes, I am abundantly blessed.
