💡 Something to Think About

There are times when we become so used to doing something it becomes routine. Taking a break from our routines is a good way to assess if our routines are healthy or unhealthy for us. Is it time for you to evaluate or take a break from your routines?

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Want A Writer’s Source for Writing Ideas?

“The great advantage of being a writer is that you can spy on people. You’re there, listening to every word, but part of you is observing. Everything is useful to a writer, you see – every scrap, even the longest and most boring of luncheon parties.”

~ Graham Greene

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Sunrise

Sunrise
Mary Oliver
You can
die for it-
an idea,
or the world. People
have done so,
brilliantly,
letting
their small bodies be bound
to the stake,
creating
an unforgettable
fury of light. But
this morning,
climbing the familiar hills
in the familiar
fabric of dawn, I thought
of China,
and India
and Europe, and I thought
how the sun
blazes
for everyone just
so joyfully
as it rises
under the lashes
of my own eyes, and I thought
I am so many!
What is my name?
What is the name
of the deep breath I would take
over and over
for all of us? Call it
whatever you want, it is
happiness, it is another one
of the ways to enter
fire.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ What is the Essence of the Short Story?

“Sometimes … the short short appears to rest on nothing more than a fragile anecdote which the writer has managed to drape with a quantity of suggestion. A single incident, a mere anecdote – these form the spine of the short short.”

~ Irving Howe

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Are You Hiding or Taking a Chance?

“An essential element of any art is risk. If you don’t take a risk then how are you going to make something really beautiful, that hasn’t been seen before?”

~ Francis Ford Coppola
