When it seems as if you’re spinning your wheels and going nowhere, keep the wheels spinning, you never know when you’ll get traction. I think it’s a difficult part of the human experience to know one is working hard and remaining stuck in place without being able to see anyway forward. It’s during these moments, where overcoming inertia is the key to a breakthrough. We don’t know when the breakthrough will come, but we can be assured it will not come if we stop trying.

A Better Life ~ Learning from Experience
My dad like to say he graduated from the school of hard knocks. He was talking about experiences that rocked his life and taught him to survive. We all enroll in the school of hard knocks one time or another. If we learn from our experiences, our stay in the school of hard knocks is a lot shorter than those who do not learn from their experiences.
Today’s Power Thought ~ Take the Chance
Most people I know want to succeed, most are afraid to take the risks necessary to succeed. A new job at a higher level is a risk. Moving to a new community is a risk. Opportunities come along with the risk. Take the risk, give yourself a chance to show you’ve got the right stuff.
Today’s Good Word ~ Hangout
Hangout – Def: a place where someone or a particular group spends a lot of time
Who do you hangout with? Where do you hangout? When you leave those you hangout with, do you feel better or worse? Do the people you hangout with encourage you? Who we hangout with is important because we quickly assimilate the values and language of the people we hangout with. Think of it this way. You’re making a cake for a special occasion. How will the cake turnout if you use inferior or wrong ingredients? It’s the same way with us. Those we hangout with will lift us or drag us down. Here’s hoping everyone you hangout with lifts your spirits and encourages you.
Today’s Inspiration ~ Two Options – One Choice
“When you wake up every day, you have two choices. You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist. I choose to be an optimist. It’s all a matter of perspective.” ~ Harvey Mackay
Today’s Health Tip ~ We Need Salt, But Not a Lot of It
Salt, also known as sodium chloride, is about 40% sodium and 60% chloride. It flavors food and is used as a binder and stabilizer. It is also a food preservative, as bacteria can’t thrive in the presence of a high amount of salt. The human body requires a small amount of sodium to conduct nerve impulses, contract and relax muscles, and maintain the proper balance of water and minerals. It is estimated that we need about 500 mg of sodium daily for these vital functions. But too much sodium in the diet can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. It can also cause calcium losses, some of which may be pulled from bone. Most Americans consume at least 1.5 teaspoons of salt per day, or about 3400 mg of sodium, which contains far more than our bodies need.
Today’s Poem ~ Passing Breeze
Passing Breeze
Rabindranath Tagore
Yes, I know, this is nothing but thy love,
O beloved of my heart—this golden light that dances upon the leaves,
these idle clouds sailing across the sky,
this passing breeze leaving its coolness upon my forehead.
The morning light has flooded my eyes—this is thy message to my heart.
Thy face is bent from above, thy eyes look down on my eyes,
and my heart has touched thy feet.
Today’s Smile
Joe: “I got fired from my Job as a cook at a Chinese restaurant.”
Pete: “What happened?”
Joe: “I could do the talk, but I couldn’t do the wok.”
Something to Think About
Do you have to be right? I know folks like that. The conversation ends when they speak. That is, unless you agree with them. Or, are you one of those with an open mind? Folks with an open mind are like young children, curious about everything. Open minded people often watch and listen from the sidelines or the edge of the circle. They don’t buy into prevailing thoughts. They investigate and discover allowing them to see more clearly what is real.
Today’s Power Thought ~ Who’s Programming Your GPS?
Who’s hand is programming your GPS? If we don’t know where we are going or want to go, someone else will program our GPS for us. Know where you’re going, it’s your choice, take control of your GPS. It may be a wild ride, but it will be your ride.
