Today’s Power Thought ~ Take a Tip from Nature

The seasons come and go. Birds build nests, raise their young, and move on. Seeds planted in the spring produce their harvest in the summer and fall. Nature doesn’t rush and everything works out. There’s a lesson there for us, slow down, do it right, and watch it produce a harvest at the right time.

Today’s Good Words ~ Roll with It

We’ve all had those days where the best we can do is roll with it. If we keep on rolling with it, who knows how it will turn out. We may surprise ourself and others at how it turned out. When my wife was alive she’d say to me, “Ray, you get yourself into so much trouble, yet it always works out. Somehow, you keep on rolling with it.” I think everything turned out right had a lot to do with her constant prayers for me. Keep on rolling and praying. You never know.

Why get angry when things don’t turn out the way you want them to turn out? The best ball teams don’t win every game. The best ball teams know there’s another game tomorrow. They leave the loss behind and concentrate on preparing for the next game. They know that’s the only place they have a chance to win. Don’t waste time and energy on being angry about something that happened, put your energy into what you can do today or tomorrow.

It’s good to be independent and self-reliant. As strong as we may be, we all need help every now and then. Asking for help doesn’t make us weak. Asking for help is sign of humility. It is an acknowledgement that we don’t have all the answers. There are times when we will be asked for help. When we are asked for help it is a sign that someone sees us as a person who can point the way, open a door, or provide assistance the person needs. Never fear giving help. Never fear receiving help. We are conduits of doing good when we are helping or receiving help.

Not all pounds are created equal. In fact, your total body weight isn’t a clear indicator of how you look or what health risks you may face. Two different people who weigh the same amount can look very different when one has a high percentage of fat and the other has a high percentage of muscle. An extra 20 pounds of fat may give you a softer, less toned appearance. But an extra 20 pounds of muscle will look firm and sculpted. Muscle also serves a different function than fat. Fat helps insulate the body and trap in body heat. Muscle boosts your metabolism. This means the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn when you’re at rest.
