Today’s Poem ~ Joy

Joy

Carl Sandburg

Let a joy keep you.
Reach out your hands
And take it when it runs by,
As the Apache dancer
Clutches his woman.
I have seen them
Live long and laugh loud,
Sent on singing, singing,
Smashed to the heart
Under the ribs
With a terrible love.
Joy always,
Joy everywhere–
Let joy kill you!
Keep away from the little deaths.

Something to Think About

We all make mistakes. We’v all been in places where we’ve thought, “If I only knew then what I know now, I’d have done it differently.” Look at what you’ve learned from the experience. Now you know and you won’t make the same mistake again. Mistakes are teachers. They offer us good lessons when we set aside anger, regret, and finger pointing. The lessons our mistakes teach us become the foundation for future success. The successful people I know became successful by learning from their mistakes, making course corrections along the way. The path to success isn’t a straight line, it’s filled with curves, steep grades, and narrow bridges. You’ll get to where you want to go if you learn the lessons and don’t quit.

A Better Life ~ C’mon, Chill!

Take time today to chill. Go on, turn the smart phone off. Walk away from the desktop, laptop, and TV. Play feel good, make me dance music. Go to a coffee shop with a friend or lover and kick back. Look at the laundry basket and tell it to wait until tomorrow. Sip a cold drink and read a good book. C’mon, chill, you’ll feel better. The world will take on a brighter hue. You will find yourself refreshed and renewed.

Today’s Power Thought ~ Is it Time to Change?

When we get sick and tired of being sick and tired, we’re ready for change. We’ve reached the tipping point. Change can happen if we take action to make it happen.

Today’s Health Tip ~ Give Your Skin a Boost

You can’t stop the aging process, but you can slow it down. The good news is that if you’re committed to eating healthier, you can help give your skin a boost. . . . Essential fatty acids such as omega-3s help your cells stay hydrated. In addition, omega-3s can help reduce inflammation in your body. Antioxidants and phytonutrients can help protect your cells by reducing free radicals in your body. So, which foods are good sources of omega-3s, antioxidants and phytonutrients? . . . Vitamin C can help fight wrinkles. Some of the best foods for skin that are packed with vitamin C include:

  • Citrus fruit — Oranges, grapefruit, lemons and limes.
  • Bell peppers — Green, orange, red or yellow — take your pick.
  • Broccoli — Steam or roast (yes, roast!) for an easy, healthy side.
  • Strawberries — Snack on them fresh or put some in a simple smoothie.
  • Kiwi — Add some to your favorite fruit salad or make veggie kebabs for a fun twist.

Today’s Good Word ~ Unique

Unique – Def: being the only existing one of its type or, more generallyunusual, or special in some way.

We know we are unique, no one is exactly like us. Do you ever think of yourself as unique with a special gift to share with the world during your lifetime? I believe you have a special gift that the world needs. It may be extraordinary like curing cancer. Or, it may be that you will make one other human being feel unconditionally loved during his/her lifetime. We know when we discover our unique gift, we have a sense of this is why I was born. This is my contribution to life. Don’t stop digging for your gift. You are unique, one of a kind. The world needs you and your gift.

Today’s Inspiration ~ Friends

“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.” ~ Helen Keller

Today’s Poem ~ Your Feet

Your Feet

Pablo Neruda

When I cannot look at your face
I look at your feet.
Your feet of arched bone,
your hard little feet.
I know that they support you,
and that your sweet weight
rises upon them.
Your waist and your breasts,
the doubled purple
of your nipples,
the sockets of your eyes
that have just flown away,
your wide fruit mouth,
your red tresses,
my little tower.
But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “I joined an online dating group for arsonists.”

Pete: “Why did you do that, Joe?”

Joe: “They send me 30 new matches every week.”

Something to Think About

No one said it was going to be easy. Accept it. Fill a to-go cup with coffee, and step out and chase your dream. Opps, your dream got popped? Happens to all of us. Refill the to-go cup and step out and chase a new dream. Did that dream get popped? You’re fortunate, it wasn’t for you. Take hold of another dream. You’ll get it right as long as you keep reaching for a dream. There are an infinite number of dreams. There is one with your name on it. Keep looking for it. You’ll find it. When you do, hold on tight. You’ll be heading on a wild, wonderful ride.
