Today’s Good Word ~ Voice

Our voices are unique to each of us. Security systems offer voice prints as a security check up. Our voices are a primary way we communicate with each other. We adjust how our voice sounds to enhance our communication. How do you use the power of your voice? Do you use it to build walls or build bridges? Do you use it to heal or hide? We can use our voice for good and to inspire others. It’s a good choice.

Today’s Health Tip ~ How Long Does it Take Food to Digest?

Your digestion rate is also based on what you’ve eaten. Meat and fish can take as long as 2 days to fully digest. The proteins and fats they contain are complex molecules that take longer for your body to pull apart. By contrast, fruits and vegetables, which are high in fiber, can move through your system in less than a day. In fact, these high fiber foods help your digestive track run more efficiently in general.

The quickest to digest are processed, sugary junk foods like candy bars. Your body tears through them in a matter of hours, quickly.

Today’s Poem – I Taught Myself to Live Simply

I Taught Myself To Live Simply

Anna Akhmatova

I taught myself to live simply and wisely,
to look at the sky and pray to God,
and to wander long before evening
to tire my superfluous worries.
When the burdocks rustle in the ravine
and the yellow-red rowanberry cluster droops
I compose happy verses
about life’s decay, decay and beauty.
I come back. The fluffy cat
licks my palm, purrs so sweetly
and the fire flares bright
on the saw-mill turret by the lake.
Only the cry of a stork landing on the roof
occasionally breaks the silence.
If you knock on my door
I may not even hear.

Today’s Power Thought

A fear is not real. We manufacture fears in our mind. Don’t let your fears prevent you from becoming what you are destined to become.

Today’s Inspiration

“May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours wherever you may roam… ”

—Irish Proverb

Today’s Smile

Joe: “ I bought an imaginary dog today.“

Pete: “ Why did you buy an imaginary dog?“

Joe: “ To give to my imaginary girlfriend.“

Something to Think About

If you’re following the crowd do you know where you are going? Does anyone in the crowd know where he/she is going? If you want to know where you’re going, choose your destination, plan your trip, and set out. You may get lost., You may be criticized for not being like others. Big deal. It is your journey. You designed it. You took the chances. You learned more by the ups and downs of your journey than you’d have learned by following the crowd.

Today’s Poem ~ The More He Does For Others

The More He Does for Others

Lao Tzu

True words aren’t eloquent;
eloquent words aren’t true.
Wise men don’t need to prove their point;
men who need to prove their point aren’t wise.

The Master has no possessions.
The more he does for others,
the happier he is.
The more he gives to others,
the wealthier he is.

The Tao nourishes by not forcing.
By not dominating, the Master leads.

A Better Life ~ Hold Tight to What You Cherish

We all chase dreams. Sometimes we’re successful. Other times, the dream is illusive always remaining a bit out of our reach. As we chase our dreams it’s wise to hold tight to what we cherish. What value does the dream have if we lose what we cherish on the way to the dream.
