Thinking Out Loud ~ Our Shared Consciousness
Joseph Campbell speaks of a shared plane of consciousness in Reflections on the Art of Living. He says, “I am more and more convinced that there is a plane of consciousness that we are all sharing, and that the brain is a limiting machine that pulls it in. . . . I’ve had such experiences on enough occasions to attest to that; meeting somebody, having i kind of “click,” and knowing that you are going to do something important together that will be a major feature in your lives. I mean, when you meet people who are going to be a deep significance in your life, knowing that it’s going to happen is somehow right there in the first meeting. It’s a very mysterious business. P.132
Note: I’ve had similar experiences. This week the name of a workout buddy, Brad popped into my mind. I hadn’t seen Brad at the gym in more than a year. I had this feeling I’d see him this week. Did he show up at the gym? No. Today I went on a nature trail hike and was out a good distance when who did I see coming up the trail toward me but Brad. Some may say that was a coincidence. I think our meetup was in the realm of the shared plane of consciousness. . Yes, it’s mysterious business as Campbell says, but it also fills me with awe and wonder.
Feeling Good Tip of the Day ~ Dealing with Stress-Filled Days
Do you ever feel as if your on one of those moving walkways at the airport and there’s no way to get off? It’s one thing after another. And, just when you think you’ve cleared everything, boom, an avalanche strikes (I know I’m mixing metaphors, LOL). I’ve read articles that encourage people to take a day or two off a week. I’ve found when I’m jammed packed with things to do and take a day off I spend the day thinking about how much I’ll have to do when I start up in the morning – it’s not as relaxing as promised. A different way may by to rethink the day. Sure it’s busy. One way to bring the hectic pace down is is to rethink how we eat our meals. Set aside the digital media and enjoy the meal. Resist grabbing a coffee and a quick meal and eating it on the train, bus or in the car. Make dinner time special where everyone has a chance talk about their day. Everyone should get a chance at debriefing. If you must work at night, set a time when work stops Make it an hour before you go to bed and chill (watch something relaxing).. If we put our creative caps on, we can think of multiple ways to step off the treadmill and avoid the avalanche .

Health Tip for Today ~ Green Beans are Good For You
Five Reasons to Eat Green Beans
Green beans, also known as string beans or snap beans, are a nutritious vegetable that offer several health benefits. Here are five nutritional benefits of eating green beans:
-
- Fiber: Green beans are a great source of dietary fiber. Fiber aids in digestion, helps maintain bowel regularity, and can contribute to feelings of fullness, which may support healthy weight management.
- Vitamins and Minerals: Green beans are rich in essential vitamins and minerals. They contain vitamin C, which supports immune function and collagen synthesis, as well as vitamin K, important for blood clotting and bone health. Green beans also provide folate, a B-vitamin essential for cell growth and development, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and iron.
- Antioxidants: Green beans are packed with antioxidants, including flavonoids and carotenoids. These compounds help protect the body against damage from harmful free radicals, which can contribute to chronic diseases and aging. Antioxidants also play a role in maintaining healthy skin and may reduce the risk of certain cancers.
- Low in Calories: Green beans are low in calories and can be a great addition to a balanced diet, particularly for those looking to manage their weight. One cup of cooked green beans contains only about 44 calories, making them a filling and nutritious choice.
- Blood Sugar Regulation: Green beans have a low glycemic index, meaning they have a minimal impact on blood sugar levels. The fiber content in green beans helps slow down the absorption of glucose in the bloodstream, which can aid in blood sugar regulation and be beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those aiming to prevent blood sugar spikes.
