Christmas Eve ~ A Poem by Eugene Field

Christmas Eve

Eugene Field

    Oh, hush thee, little Dear-my-Soul,
      The evening shades are falling,–
Hush thee, my dear, dost thou not hear
The voice of the Master calling?

Deep lies the snow upon the earth,
But all the sky is ringing
With joyous song, and all night long
The stars shall dance, with singing.

    Oh, hush thee, little Dear-my-Soul,
And close thine eyes in dreaming,
And angels fair shall lead thee where
      The singing stars are beaming.

A shepherd calls his little lambs,
      And he longeth to caress them;
He bids them rest upon his breast,
That his tender love may bless them.

    So, hush thee, little Dear-my-Soul,
      Whilst evening shades are falling,
And above the song of the heavenly throng
Thou shalt hear the Master calling.

A Prescription for a Great Day

I’m up early, usually around 5 a.m. I get up in a good mood and head into the day with a great attitude. This morning I felt a bit grumpy. I didn’t like the feeling. My mind reeled for a quick fix. I sat on the edge of the bed pondering my next move when the solution struck like a lightening bolt. I asked Alexa, my digital assistant, to play the “Chicken Dance.” The music started and I popped out of bed and did the chicken dance around the bedroom. Grumpy mood gone. I was ready to start the day. Enjoy the YouTube video and pick up your mood.

Today’s Quote: Listen for the Music, It’s There

Everywhere was singing, all over the house was singing, and outside the house was alive with singing, and the very air was song. ~ Richard Llewellyn

“When the Shy Star Goes Forth in Heaven” A Poem by James Joyce

When the Shy Star Goes Forth in Heaven by James Joyce

When the shy star goes forth in heaven
All maidenly, disconsolate,
Hear you amid the drowsy even
One who is singing by your gate.
His song is softer than the dew
And he is come to visit you.

O bend no more in revery
When he at eventide is calling.
Nor muse: Who may this singer be
Whose song about my heart is falling?
Know you by this, the lover’s chant,
‘Tis I that am your visitant.

Feel Good Tip of the Day ~ I Sing When I’m Happy

I like to sing, usually off-key. I sing when I’m happy. I’m generally happy, so I sing a lot. I sing along with music I like and wonder why I never made it as a singer (when I listen to a recording, I know – LOL). I like to sing at church. If the hymn is one of my favorites, I kick it up a notch or two (I hope they do Amazing Grace this Sunday). Singing lifts my spirits, I imagine it lifts your spirits too.

Today’s Power Thought ~ Keep On

There are times when people will see you dancing and singing and they will think you’ve lost your mind. Keep dancing and singing you’ve found your path.

Today’s Reflection ~ Sing, Love, & Dance

Go out in the world and work like money doesn’t matter, sing as if no one is listening, love as if you have never been hurt, and dance as if no one is watching. ~ Victor Hugo

Today’s Reflection ~ Love

You don’t love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.

Oscar Wilde

Gifts ~ Poem by Sara Teasdale

Gifts

Sara Teasdale

I gave my first love laughter,
I gave my second tears,
I gave my third love silence
Through all the years.

My first love gave me singing,
My second eyes to see,
But oh, it was my third love
Who gave my soul to me.
