Today’s Thought: Is It Time to Take the Leap?

Plan, plan, and plan. If planning is all we’re doing, we’re not doing much. We’re a lot like a gerbil running as fast as he can on his gerbil wheel. Whatever it is that we want we have to take a leap away from planning. Whatever we choose to do, it’s not going to be perfect, there will be challenges and setbacks. Those are wonderful gifts, they make us stronger, they sharpen our minds, they increase our vision. Is it time to say, “Enough with the planning. It’s time to leap.” Trust yourself. Trust that you are able to adapt to the challenges. Give it your best and place the outcome in God’s hands. You’ll surprise yourself.

Today’s Thought: Hold On, Never Quit

Yesterday afternoon a whooper of a thunderstorm roared through my area. Lightening and thunder at times were instantaneous. The winds drove the heavy rain sideways. I was happy I was in my home. Then, as quickly as the storm hit, it subsided and the Texas sun was as bright as ever. That’s how it is with life. Storms hit us, sometimes with a raging fury. If we hold on, the storm loses its power and our sunlight returns. We all have to endure challenges. They’re not always simple to overcome. If we hold on we can outlast the challenges. Never quit.

Thinking Out Loud: You Got This!

Life comes at us in waves. We can’t predict or control those waves, but we can learn to surf. ~ Dan Millman

NOTE: When my five daughters were young I taught them to swim and to survive in the water. Each summer we’d swim off Cape Hatteras. We respected the ocean and its power, but we did not fear it. It’s the same way with life. As we grow through life, life tosses challenges at us. Some of the challenges knock us flat on our backs. While we’re on our backs, life is screaming at us, “Get up! Get up! You got this!” When we rose we were stronger, more experienced, and more confident. Challenges will never stop coming. They’re like the waves in the quote. Learn to ride them. Life’s given us an education, if we use it and keep learning we’ll keep getting stronger and gaining experience.
