I stopped by Trader Joe’s to a bit of shopping the other day. I generally know what I want and I’m quickly in and out – not this time. On the way into Trader Joe’s I spotted olive tree plants for sale. I love olives. I thought, my olive tree would go with my fig tree, I can picture the two of them already. The olive tree came home with me. I planted the olive tree today. I felt good digging of soil and planting the tree. It will be a few years before olives appear. Until that time I’m going to give it a happy home.

Feel Good Tip ~ Watch Out for the Drama Filled Folks
Don’t Let the Soap Opera Draw You In
Do you know anyone whose life is always filled with drama? I know several. These folks will unload their troubles and walk away temporarily relieved while we are left standing what hit us. Sometimes we can’t avoid drama filled people, It’s best to try to minimize the time we spend with them, they will wear us out. Look for people overflowing with a sense of joy of life. They leave us feeling good and wanting more. It’s an easy choice and happiness and peace of mind depend on making the right choice.
Feel Good Tip ~ Going to Church
When I go to church I feel good. I feel connected with others who worship with me. I feel connected to the music. I feel connected prayers the priest says at mass. I look around and watch those who are at mass with me praying knowing that they, like me, have issues they are struggling with; and they, like me, seek help and peace through their prayers.
Feel Good Tip ~ Slowing Down
The speed limit on a major road nearby is 40 mph (64 kpl). I’m not sure if most of the drivers can read the speed limit sign or if they choose to ignore it. They do obey the speed limit sign when radar traffic police are around. It’s often the way things are in our lives. We ignore something until it is too late. It could be a relationship, health, or other issue. When we slow down, we have an opportunity to become more aware of what is happening and to take corrective actions. Slow down and enjoy the ride.

Feel Good Tip ~ Helping Each Other is a Win-Win Experience
It Happened on the Way Home
I was driving home from the gym today. I’m in a great mood after my workout. The traffic is moving smoothly. I’m in the right hand lane. I stop for a red light. There are several cars in front of me and the lines in both lanes are getting longer. The light turns green, Oh, oh, there’s a sign ahead saying the right land is closed. I check my rearview mirror and start planning how I am going to edge into the left lane. What a minute, a guy in a black pickup truck in the left lane, just off my left shoulder, flashes his lights and lets me pull in. What a nice guy. I wave to him and tossed him a thumbs up. I had no choice, I did the same for a car in front of me wanting to pull into the lane. Helping each other is a win-win, feel good experience.
Feel Good Tip ~ It’s a Feel Good Day
I had a great night’s sleep. I quickly rose out of bed and announced to myself, “Ray, you are going to have a great day.” My day has gotten better by each passing moment. I exercised, took a hot shower, ate my Greek yogurt with my oatmeal and a side of blueberries. I’m set to bring a smile to all I see today as well as an encouraging word. I hope your day is off to as great a beginning as mine.

Feel Good Tip ~ It’s All About the Attitude
According to William James, known as the father of American psychology, “It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.” Think of it this way, you’re invited to a party. Your first thought is, “Oh no. I don’t know anyone, I’ll be miserable for three hours.” The chances are, according your attitude, that you will have a miserable time. What if you changed your attitude and instead thought, “I’m going to a party. That’s great. I won’t know many people, what a great chance to make new contacts. I’m going practice my listening skills. This person will come home from the party with lots of new contacts and information he/she didn’t have before. Our attitude heading in has a great influence on the outcome
Feel Good Tip ~ Life is Better Together
Where There Is Love There Is Life – Ghandi
Life may be less complicated alone. Life, however, is better together. When our lives are shared there is someone we can count on. There is someone to celebrate the joyful moments. There is someone to console us in the sorrowful moments. Life together may be complicated at times, but the benefits from a loving relationship far outweigh the cost.
