Kindness Works ~ Kindness Makes a Difference

Being Kind to One Another

While it may seem easier to be kind to the people we know, we also carry the ability to show kindness to someone new. We never know what others are dealing with and our generosity, support, or small act of kindness may go a long way.

Kindness doesn’t always have to include dramatic gestures of care. Simply being polite, using a warm tone, giving a smile, or showing patience or gratitude to a stranger can be enough.

Some ideas:

  • Make it easy for someone to get on the highway.
  • Toss the cashier a smile and tell him/her thank you.

Think About It ~ Taking a Stand

It’s easy to rail against injustice and unfairness. It’s more difficult to take a stand and work to do something about it. When we take a stand and commit ourselves to making a difference, we’re known by our actions more than our words. When our actions focus on  improving the condition are words criticize we walk with integrity.

Today’s Power Thought ~ The Words We Speak Make a Difference

When our speech uplifts, inspires, and touches hearts, the speaker makes a difference in the lives of all who receive his/her words. The ripples of his/her words spread well beyond those who are listening to him/her.

Today’s Power Thought ~ An Important Thought to Carry Through the Day

Imagine if the central thought in your mind today as you interact with others is, “I come in peace. Let’s work together.” You will accomplish amazing feats.

Today’s Power Thought ~ It’s Only a Minute

I have a one-minute rule. It works like this: when I face an uncomfortable task, I challenge myself to give the task one full concentrated minute. I find that after one concentrated minute, I get into the task and take it through to completion. It has made a big difference for me. Have a great day.

Something to Think About

Four Questions to Answer at the End of Each Day:

  1. What did I learn today?
  2. Who did I love today?
  3. How did I make a difference today?
  4. What was I grateful for today?

These questions provide us with an opportunity to reflect on our day. Each day provides us with opportunities to learn. These opportunities surround us. They come at us through the digital media, friends, and our work. When we love someone each day, we reach out to the other person and leave our ego behind. We become a better human being with each act of love. When we make a difference, small or great, in another’s life, we contribute to building a better society. Opportunities to make difference abound, grab a handful and you’ll be a difference maker. Each day overflows with an abundance of things for which we can express our gratitude: health, family, work, a team’s victory, a good book, good music, you get the idea. Make it a regular practice and you’ll notice a big difference in your being.

A Better Life ~ It Doesn’t Take Much

Although it’s not classified as a disease, loneliness is prevalent among us in great numbers. It is a silent disease since the lonely have no one to turn to. The lonely sit and stare at a TV, wait for the phone to ring, or wait for someone to knock at their door. Do you know a lonely, isolated person? Stop by to say hi. Bring him/her a surprise. It doesn’t take much to make a difference and lighten the load of feeling lonely.

A Better Life ~ Who Do You Know?

Someone you know needs a helping hand. Don’t wait to be asked. This person needs you now. You can fill their emptiness. When you do, you’ll have made a big difference in that person’s life.

Today’s Power Thought ~ The World Needs You

The best place to make a difference is in the time and place where you find yourself. Every moment, in every place, there is a void to be filled. The world needs difference makers, it needs you.

Something to Think About

Society is better when people get involved. It doesn’t matter what side they’re on, it’s their involvement that matters because it shows that they care. In a democratic society, the different perspectives are resolved peacefully through voting. What is counterproductive is indifference, not caring, and apathetic attitudes toward life. Whatever your perspectives, get involved, work to make a difference. Society will become better  because you chose to get involved.
