Positive Thought of the Day ~ Soar with the Eagles

Optimism doesn’t wait on facts. It deals with prospects. Pessimism is a waste of time.Norman Cousins

I’ve met and worked with optimists and pessimists. Given a choice, I’ll choose to hang out with optimists 100% of the time. A pessimist will drag you down into the mud. An optimist will teach you to fly. It’s time to fly and to soar with the eagles. Yes, you can!

Optimism Works ~ Want to Solve Problems?

By believing that bad situations can improve, optimism motivates people to change those bad situations (e.g., to stick to health regimens and to seek health advice, and also to address life problems problems early on before they spiral out of control). By nipping problems in the bud before they become entrenched, optimists end up (on average) having to solve fewer difficult life problems than do pessimists.

Optimistic people look for solutions knowing they will find creative ways to approach problems. It’s a far better approach than pointing fingers and assigning blame. Choose to look at life’s challenges through an optimistic lens. You’ll discover more open doors and pathways to solutions.

Optimism Work ~ Optimistic Couples Stay Married

Optimism also appears to enhance existing relationships in predictable ways. For example, married couples who score higher in optimism are more likely to stay married. They also tend to work together better to solve problems than do more pessimistic couples. Source

It makes sense that optimistic couples believe they can work through the issues they confront. They hold on to the hope and expectation that tomorrow will be better than today.

Optimism Works ~ What is Optimism?

Optimism doesn’t mean ignoring life’s stressors

When negative things happen, optimistic people are less likely to blame themselves and more likely to see the obstacle as temporary or even positive. Optimists also believe they have control over their fate and can create opportunities for good things to happen in the future.

Being optimist also improves your health, studies find. Prior research has found a direct link between optimism and healthier diet and exercise behaviors, as well as better cardiac health, a stronger immune system, better lung function, and lower mortality risk, among others.
