Smile ~ A Poem by Edwin Osgood Grover

Smile

Edwin Osgood Grover

Smile!
The world is blue enough
Without your feeling blue.
Smile!
There’s not half joy enough
Unless you’re happy, too.
Smile!
The sun is always shining,
And there’s work to do.
Smile!
This world may not be Heaven,
But then it’s Home to you.

Embracing Imperfection: The Key to Happier Relationships

The most unhappy people I know are perfectionists. From my observations they have several things in common; they don’t smile, they make the lives of those closest to them miserable, and they are unhappy. When we accept our imperfections and faults we can let the imperfections and missteps of others slide. When we let things slide suddenly relationships improve. Suddenly the sun’s a bit brighter and the sky a bit bluer. We are all in a state of becoming. We are imperfect. It’s why forgiveness is a big deal. Forgiving ourselves and forgiving others because we are imperfect heals wounds that otherwise would continue to fester. Welcome to our imperfect world let’s smile, sing, and dance our way through our imperfections.

Happy Eyes and a Smile

I enjoy life. I enjoy being with people. I enjoy being alone. I enjoy going for a walk in nature. I enjoy being on busy city streets. I enjoy music playing. I enjoy silence. I don’t know how I came about this way of being. It’s nothing I studied. My parents weren’t this way. It just happened. I don’t think I was always this way. It happened. I’m always looking for something good to happen to me. It usually does but not always in the way I want it or in my timeframe. I think it’s important to look at life with happy eyes and a smile and arms wide open to catch the good things life is tossing at you,

A Single Smile ~ A Poem by Paul Eluard

A Single Smile

Paul Eluard

A single smile disputes
Each star with the gathering night
A single smile for us both

And the blue of your joyful eyes
Against the mass of night
Finding its flame in my eyes

I have seen by needing to know
The deep night create the day
With no change in our appearance.

The Power of a Smile

“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and smade the day worth living.”― F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Power of a Smile

One of the things that makes me happy is to see people smiling. When I see people smiling (not the fake posed kind, the kind that comes from the heart) I know they are happy. Smiles have a way of silently expressing a genuine love for others. Smiles are contagious. I know when I smile at someone, they return the smile. In that moment, two human beings made contact and in a silent way assured each other of life’s goodness. Each time we offer another a warm smile we are sharing a moment of peace, a moment of connection, and a moment of love. Mother Teresa said, “A smile carries a powerful message. We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.”
