Stumbling Along

I’ve never been one delve into the past. I think I am oddity that way. I know lots of folks who like reunions, going to museums, reading historical novels, and going on Facebook to stay in touch or check on folks with whom they grew up. Just thinking about this stuff gives me the hives. I like looking forward to tomorrow, meeting strangers and turning them into friends, and seeking out the next adventure. It’s a good thing to discover our path and stay true to it. We’re all different, that’s for sure. In some ways, life is an adventure where we are constantly refining our search for our path. There are lots of stumbles and potholes on the way. The worse thing is to live a path that someone else defines for you. To me, it’s better to stumble along trying to figure it out. Happy discovering.

New Podcast: Grief, Grace, and the Greatest Adventure Ahead

In this deeply moving episode of Journey from Grief to Healing, we hear from a grieving husband who discovers that life still has a plan for him—even after unimaginable loss. With humility and grace, he shares how staying emotionally “at the cemetery” would have meant a slow fade into emptiness. But life, in its mysterious and fierce kindness, shook him awake. Anchored in poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke and Adelaide Crapsey, and inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s wisdom, he shows us that grief is not the end of the story—it’s a passage. Through raw honesty and unexpected humor, he reminds us that love doesn’t vanish; it transforms. The hurt we carry honors those we’ve lost. Our courage to keep going, to live fully, is the greatest tribute we can offer. This episode is a heartfelt call to rejoin the flow of life, to find adventure again, and to trust that joy can still unfold—one brave step at a time.

It’s Going to be a Great Day

It’s going to be a great day. I can feel it. There’s a great day vibe in the air. I’m going to grab hold of it and not let go. I’m not sure where it will take me, but I’m ready for an adventure. Who knows who I’ll meet today or what surprises are in store for me. Where will your day take you? Are you ready for the adventure? No need to pack anything. Take a happy heart, smile, and a mind open to all the possibilities that come your way. It is going to be a great day.

Dare to Live

Each day life asks us a question: Do you dare to live? Or, will you choose to simply exist? Our answer each day charts our destiny. When we choose to dare to live, we embrace all that life has to offer. We don’t run away from love because we may be hurt. We dare to love. We don’t run away from trying something new because we me might fail. We dare to try. We don’t believe we’re too old for adventure. We choose to be adventurous. It’s always a choice and it’s a choice we make each day. Dare to live.

Never Say No to An Adventure

“Never say ‘no’ to adventures. Always say ‘yes,’ otherwise you’ll lead a very dull life.” ― Ian Fleming

You’ve One Life, Live it Fully

“Live, travel, adventure, bless, and don’t be sorry.” ― Jack Kerouac

You Have Been Chosen

Most human beings live simple unassuming lives. Even those who receive notoriety are soon forgotten shortly after their death. It’s humbling to think of it that way. The super rich billionaires may build monuments, businesses, and blaze their names on them, but they too will be forgotten within a generation. We’re all in the same boat as we move through our journey. Each of us has a reason for being. It may be to do something notable, most often it’s not. Yet, each of our reasons for being is vitally important and no reason is greater than another’s reason. My mom and dad were shoe workers. They raised a family. They were kind to their brothers, sisters, and neighbors. They were good parents to my brother and me. And, they were proud of the shoes they made. Their reason for being was as important as a king or queen or president’s reason for being. Discover your reason for being and pursue it. It is your adventure. We can learn from the words of J. R. R. Tolkien, “You have been chosen, and you must therefore use such strength and heart and wits as you have.”
