The ancient Chinese philosopher, Laozi, said, “Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.” The truth he spoke centuries ago holds true today. It’s important to listen to other people to learn and evaluate what they say; yet, when we let their thought and opinions determine our actions we become their puppet and they pull our strings. Walk to the beat of your drummer. It’s your life, dare to live it fully.

Today’s Poem ~ Who Am I?
My feet are on the hilltops.
My finger-tips are in the valleys and shores of
universal life.
Down in the sounding foam of primal things I
reach my hands and play with pebbles of
destiny.
I have been to hell and back many times.
I know all about heaven, for I have talked with God.
I dabble in the blood and guts of the terrible.
I know the passionate seizure of beauty
And the marvelous rebellion of man at all signs
reading “Keep Off.”My name is Truth and I am the most elusive captive
in the universe.
Something to Think About
It takes a discerning reader to dig for the truth in news stories. The discerning reader searches multiple sources and tries to collect the pieces to the puzzle that reveal the truth of a situation or event. Even with a deep search, it still is possible to be missing several pieces to complete the puzzle. Paying attention to only media sources that reflect our philosophy leaves aa big hole in understanding of what is true or false. It takes more time to dig deeper into different sources of news stories; the search, however, yields a much clearer picture of reality. As for me, I like to make up my own mind. I don’t want to surrender what I think or feel to a single media or governmental source.
A Better Life ~ Master Your Fears
Don’t let your fears convince you they are speaking the truth. When we confront our fears and act in spite of them, our fears run for cover for they have met their master.
A Better Life ~ Open Minds Keep Learning
We can’t learn what we think we already know. Closed minds stop learning. They fight to hold fast to the erroneous ways they view reality. Open minds ask questions, are curious, and seek deeper understanding.
Something to Think About
Shouting, hollering, and denial can’t change the truth. When we seek the truth we look beyond the noise in search of discovery. Those who sincerely search for truth know that their search does not always yield the results they want. Yet, truth searchers are open to letting verifiable facts change their thinking. There was a time when many thought the world was flat; truth search kept searching and discovered the world wasn’t flat.
What If . . .
What if one didn’t listen to news-related podcasts or watch the network or cable news. Instead, what if one chose to read the news online from credible, competing perspectives news outlets. One might be challenged to think about things differently. Or, one might broaden one’s perspective of where the truth is in the news being reported.
Today’s Good Word ~ Understand
Have you ever felt frustrated when people don’t understand you? I have. We can try to use logic, different ways of making our meaning known, but to no avail. We are not understood. What do we do when we’re not understood? If what we have to say is important, then it is important that we continue to speak it. Where our message goes it will fall on some who understand, probably a lot more who don’t understand, and some who refuse to try to understand. Don’t be discouraged, continue to speak what your heart urges you to speak. The right people will understand.
Today’s Power Thought ~ There’s Always a Way
If you accept as a truth “there’s always a way,” a failure is only a slight detour in the road. You know if you keep working at your challenge, you’ll find a way. It’s inevitable. Yes, there’s always a way. Keep searching.
Today’s Poem ~ The Thread of Truth
In small bright specks upon the visible side
Of our strange being’s parti-coloured web.
How rich the universe! ‘Tis a vein of ore
Emerging now and then on Earth’s rude breast,
But flowing full below. Like islands set
At distant intervals on Ocean’s face,
We see it on our course; but in the depths
The mystic colonnade unbroken keeps
Its faithful way, invisible but sure.
Oh, if it be so, wherefore do we men
Pass by so many marks, so little heeding?
