Think About It ~ Did you know how rich you are?

Did you know how rich you are? I’m not speaking of investments, bank accounts, or other forms of accumulated wealth. I’m speaking of the treasure of knowledge, wisdom, and experience you’ve collected throughout your life. Think about how much you know and the wide diversity of your knowledge. Each day you’ve lived you’ve learned something, intentionally or unintentionally and gained both knowledge and experience.  When you tie knowledge and experience together you produce a unique form of wisdom that no one else has. When you consider all the knowledge, experience, and wisdom you have, you have to admit that you can do anything you put your mind to doing. Why not do something great. C’mon, you can do it. You have everything you need.

Today’s Inspiration ~ Find the Peaceful Place

“The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.”

~ James Allen

Today’s Poem ~ No Difference

No Difference

Shel Silverstein

Small as a peanut,
Big as a giant,
We’re all the same size
When we turn off the light
Rich as a sultan,
Poor as a mite,
We’re all worth the same
When we turn off the light.
Red, black or orange,
Yellow or white,
We all look the same
When we turn off the light.
So maybe the way
To make everything right
Is for God to just reach out
And turn off the light!

A Better Life ~ A Special Insight

Damaged people have a special insight into life. They see what others can’t see. They see more with the heart than with the brain. It’s as if they gained entrance into a private world. One who has been betrayed, for example, understands more deeply what it’s like to be betrayed by someone you love and trust. Whereas one who has not had a similar experience can never fully grasp what it feels like.

Today’s Poem ~ The Debt

The Debt
Paul Laurence Dunbar
This is the debt I pay
Just for one riotous day,
Years of regret and grief,
Sorrow without relief.
Pay it I will to the end —
Until the grave, my friend,
Gives me a true release —
Gives me the clasp of peace.
Slight was the thing I bought,
Small was the debt I thought,
Poor was the loan at best —
God! but the interest!

Today’s Poem ~ The Thread of Truth

The Thread of Truth
 Arthur Hugh Clough
Truth is a golden thread, seen here and there
In small bright specks upon the visible side
Of our strange being’s parti-coloured web.
How rich the universe! ‘Tis a vein of ore
Emerging now and then on Earth’s rude breast,
But flowing full below. Like islands set
At distant intervals on Ocean’s face,
We see it on our course; but in the depths
The mystic colonnade unbroken keeps
Its faithful way, invisible but sure.
Oh, if it be so, wherefore do we men
Pass by so many marks, so little heeding?

Something to Think About

We’re all subject to criticism. I’ve not met a person who enjoys being criticized. It bruises our egos and sometimes it’s mean and not meant to help. When criticism is legitimate we can learn from it. We can use it change or improve. Only a foolish person discards all criticism without first weighing its validity. It’s good to enjoy a day being angry at the criticism. After the angry day, shake it off, and reflect on the criticism to see what can be learned from it.

Something to Think About

There is a time to speak. There is a time to listen. There is a time to be present and do nothing more than be present. Wisdom is in knowing the difference.

Today’s Power Thought ~ Learn the Lessons

Everyone you’ll meet today has had experience. How many have learned the lessons taught by their experiences? Learn from each experience, good or bad, and wisdom will surround you.

Today’s Inspiration ~ Wisdom & Patience

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

~ Proverbs 10:11
