In The Joy of Movement, McGonigal writes about the science behind “hope molecules”—chemicals released by the muscles into the bloodstream during exercise to protect the brain from stress. “These chemicals can [actually] help people recover from trauma,” she says. “Every time you move, you are giving yourself an intravenous dose of hope.”

🌞 Inspiring Quote ~ Dare to take a Chance!
“But you only get one chance at life to leave your mark upon it. And when a pony comes riding by you, better set your sweet ass on it.” ~ Zac Brown Band
Today’s Poem ~ See it Through
See it Through
Edgar Guest
When you’re up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
See it through!
Black may be the clouds about you
And your future may seem grim,
But don’t let your nerve desert you;
Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
See it through!
Even hope may seem but futile,
When with troubles you’re beset,
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.
You may fail, but fall still fighting;
Don’t give up, whate’er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
See it through!
🍎 Health Hack ~ Bring on Breakfast
Making good breakfast choices
You might think that a muffin and a cup of coffee ought to do the trick, but experts advise being more careful about what you choose to start your day. Here are some suggestions for those on the go:
- High-fiber cereal with fresh fruit and low-fat milk or soy or rice milk substitute
- Low-fat protein shake with fresh/frozen fruit
- High-fiber toast or bagel with tablespoon of peanut butter
- Select protein bar and yogurt or a glass of milk
“Breakfast is like exercising,” Tangney says. “If you make room for it in the morning, you’ll look and feel great throughout the day.”

Today’s Poem ~ Good Timber
Good Timber
Douglas Malloch
The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.
The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.
Good timber does not grow with ease,
The stronger wind, the stronger trees,
The further sky, the greater length,
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.
Where thickest lies the forest growth
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.
🤗 Feel Good Hack ~ #1 of 7 Traits of Happy People
First Trait of Happy People
Gratitude. Gratitude is essential for happiness. You have to truly appreciate everything you have in life in order to be satisfied with it. If you don’t feel grateful, you’re always going to be looking for more, no matter how much you already have. You could make minimum wage or a six-figure salary and still constantly lust after more instead of being grateful you have a job. You could resent your parents and wish that they were different instead of appreciating the fact that they’re alive and well. Express your gratitude, openly and often, for all the great things in your life, and forget what you “could” have–focus on what you do have.
🖋 Writers’ Wisdom ~ 1st Page & Last Page
Nobody reads a mystery to get to the middle. They read it to get to the end. If it’s a letdown, they won’t buy anymore. The first page sells that book. The last page sells your next book. ~ Mickey Spillane
