Today’s Poem ~ Creed

Creed

Gabriela Mistral

I believe in my heart that when

The wounded heart sunk within the depth of God sings

It rises from the pond alive

As if new-born.

I believe in my heart that what I wring from myself

To tinge life’s canvas

With red of pallid hue, thus cloaking it

In luminous garb.

Today’s Smile 😃

The cable repairman was on my street and asked me what time it was. I told him it is between 8 am and 1 pm.

Today’s Poem ~ One Art

One Art

Elizabeth Bishop

The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster,

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three beloved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.

— Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) a disaster.

🌞 Inspiring Quote ~ Try, Try, and Try Some more

“Take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly, and try another. But by all means, try something.” ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

🖋 Writers’ Wisdom ~ A Writer’s Mindset

Depending on what I’m working on, I come to the writing desk with entirely different mindsets. When I change form one to the other, it’s as if another writer is on the scene. ~ Ed McBain

🤗 Feel Good Hack ~ It’s A Balancing Act

Balance work and play.

You know the saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” If you spend most of your time burning the candle at both ends, it can take a real toll on your physical, mental and emotional health. Constant stress leads to high cortisol levels, which will impact your sleep, increase your risk of diabetes and heart disease, and lead to weight gain. Like anything in life, striving for balance will help alleviate stress, improve your happiness and allow you to see your greatest potential. Find time to do something that makes you happy and truly fulfills you. Do you love being in nature, taking pictures or painting? Carve out time each day to do something you love.

Health Hack ~ Watch the Portion Size

Portion sizes at restaurants have steadily increased in recent years, especially in the United States. We often have the extras “boxed” to take home and finish, but many times we just eat it all. Food selection is important, but controlling portion sizes will also control your waistline.

🍎 Health Hack ~ The Fewer the Legs the Better

Eat Lean Protein.

When it comes to eating meat, the fewer the legs, the better. Red meat sources have four legs, white meat sources have two and fish have no legs. Fish and chicken are your best sources of lean protein with less saturated fat.
